It would be an interesting decision. But I'm not entirely sold that this isn't some sort of weird New Coke marketing and/or parody.
    Ha, whoops

*yawn* Oh neat. James retired so they found a new double-o agent to take his spot. Boy that's not uninspired writing. I dislike Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Casino Royale was their only smash, and the third act had to be completely re-written anyway.

The double-o's are just a code/ a department of MI6. The only other double-o that doesn't routinely get killed in the films is the never seen 008 who M always threatens to replace 007 with on missions.

Let's not forget that this is hardly the first female double-o agent, but just the first that isnt a passing reference to the double-o's where we see a female in a group shot (The World is not Enough, Thunderball).

Also, it's a movie, so who gives a sh*t. I never understood the hoopla over handing 007 over. The story is about James Bond, a named character. Too much emphasis is being placed on his code. It would go on with his name anyway.

I can't wait for the inevitable 007 spin off that Lashana Lynch will star in for Sony/Columbia in 2023. Which will compete against a FOX (Disney) EON Productions remake of the Sean Connery era James Bond films staring Richard Madden as James Bond. Stupid Thunderball/Kevin McClory.

See, I would have gone back to the source material and done a period piece remake of the books. You get to keep the character the way he is and it's a more exciting film project for anyone involved, including the fans.

The studios tried that: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was a flop (I thought it was a good film and hoped for more, but then again, I never saw reruns of the original TV series).

The Bond 007 name carries weight. Man From U.N.C.L.E? Please.

I also enjoyed the UNCLE redo but Scooby is right that it's not remotely on a par with Bond.

I might want to watch it now but since I never saw the TV show, like ever, it never interested me.

Last week the people lost their mind over a black woman playing a mermaid, now they're going nuts over a black woman being 007. It's fun to watch.

                            This is a good reply.

                            So is this.

The whole Thunderball thing is weird and confusing, because I thought McClory sold his rights somewhere around when he died, and Sony picked them up, and they claimed they were still owed a movie or two because of it, but EON kinda/sorta appeased them by having Sony do Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. But then Sony balked again, or some bullsh** like that. Did Sony finally give up?

When they roll out black Captain America (Anthony Mackie) will his friends call him "Ariel"?

And when DC fixes the vast and horrific Green Lantern mistake they made (the one Marvel's Deadpool revels in) will it be the "John Stewart" Lantern, ... called Ariel?
