Jesus let himself be nailed to a fvcking cross. Didn’t have a hateful bone in his body.

Jesus was also born in the Middle East... he was brown. As was Mary. Giddy up.

Jesus was a WASP...I know every Church and Redneck told me so! He also had a six pack...cause he did lots of crunches in his spare time

Oh and he hates Gays. And Muslims. And Trans. And Democrats. He basically loves George Washington and all of White Europe.

It's also because as a religious site ND hasn't been allowed to charge admission in over a century. That means the site gets nada from the estimated 30000 people who visit each day.

One imagines a religious institution that has deep pockets might foot the bill. Hey, doesn't the Catholic Church itself have a tidy sum of cash?

If they do it is by choice. A 1905 law prohibits them from charging admission. That's true of any religious site in France.

So I'm having problems linking pictures, but there are some new pictures from the inside at the bottom of ABC's live update page- https://abcnews.go.com/International...ry?id=62424888

Lots of damage, but not horrible.

It was basically a fire pit. They did an incredible job to save the walls and towers:

Very few churches in the US charge admission..... not sure why the frogs are having you carry their water here (no pun intended)

Look closer at "the fire pit"- that's the roof burning on the top of the stone arches you see from the inside- that's NOT burning on ground level- according to Wiki, about 300ft up. Which is a very big deal in this. And it looks like only two of the arches were total losses where it all crashed down. One other failed in the middle, but that's it. And that's pretty remarkable relative to what we were all watching.

You said that few US churches charge admission, and the reason is that few are tourist destinations.

Oh, you're right, good catch! I did think that was ground level. I was wondering how in the hell the building had maintained structural integrity.
