USA NTDP wins IIHF U18 World Championship with a team of college-bound players

So, three-peat for the NTDP at the U18 Worlds. Beat Canada in OT in the semis and Sweden in OT in the finals. All but 3 (U17 kids playing up) on the team are committed to D1 schools. There has been plenty of spirited discussion about the cost vs benefits of 'investment' USA hockey makes in the NTDP. Does consistent winning by the US team at tournaments like this, and commitment of the vast majority of the players to D1 programs, validate the investment in the program? Canada has not changed their approach to development in, oh decades, and USA has appears to have bumped up significantly in performance since the inception of the NTDP approach. NTDP-dominated (college-bound players) are consistently coming out on top at the U17 and U18 levels, and are generally contenders at U20. Dumb luck? Validation of the NTDP/College Hocky Inc. approach?
    Engelwood jack, that's the way.

It seems to me to be validation of the concept of playing together all season. The players know each other and what they can and will do. They are not just bought together for the tourneys.

Excellent point. Not sure if Sweden, Russia or other countries have 'national teams' that practice/play together for an entire season?

On top of the fact that the US has the advantage of playing together most of the year, keep in mind that Canada doesn't send it's best to this tournament. Hoards of their elite are playing for their respective Major Junior teams still...

Grimaldi is small, but it looks like him and Brown have some chemistry with 62 and 37 points respectively.
