The Official "Their DIII Season's Done" Thread

Since Chris Lerch hasn't posted anything on his D3 blog since early January, I suspect this annual tradition might die unless somebody picked it up, so here goes (corrections if warranted)

    All still playing

    ECAC Northeast (0)

    All still playing

    ECAC West (2)
Lebanon Valley (done forever ) - Did not make playoffs
Utica - Lost in First round

    MCHA (2)

Finlandia - Did not make playoffs

    MIAC (4)

Bethel - Did not make playoffs
Concordia (MN) - Did not make playoffs

    NCHA (3)

UW- Eau Clare - Lost in first round of playoffs
UW - Stout - Lost in first round of playoffs
UW - Superior - Lost in first round of playoffs

    NESCAC (2)

    Eau Claire is also done...
“You drive by some of these rinks in the winter and there isn't anybody out there. It's kind of sad, actually...Here it’s go to the rink, pay for your ice time and practice for an hour where we could just walk to the rink and skate for four hours if we wanted to...It was just a lot of fun. Could you add "playing out the string" to the MASCAC?

Framingham State finished playing out their string last night (6-3 loss to UMD, for a final record of 2-20-2), and are out of playoff contention. So, they're done.

(Random note: If Fitchburg wins the MASCAC tournament, can I declare them the new Adrian? )

As are Colby, Tufts, USM, UNE, Castleton, UMB, Stevens Point, and Augsburg.

Other losers - St. Scholastica, Hamline, Williams, and Amherst may be hoping for a Pool C shot. I can guarantee that at least one of the above is also done. I'll wait on the NCAA rankings before retiring any of these.

With only three C bids, you have to think one is going to SUNYAC second place and maybe one to NESCAC runner-up. That leaves Williams and Amherst out. Not sure what will happen in the West. This week's rankings will tell us a lot.

As long as Kangas is coaching, Williams will never get beyond the NESCAC QTRS.

They actually made it to the semi finals last year and then lost to Middlebury. I totally agree with you about Kangas though. Good recruiter but that's where it ends.

Kangas not good recuriter. The kids show up there because of the school's reputation. He is the least seen NESCAC coach on the Prep School / Junior circuit.

And now we add 5 teams to the done list.
That makes 45 that are done + 4 bubble teams, at least one of which is done but doesn't know it yet + 2 playing out the string:

Becker - Lost in ECAC NE Semis
Wentworth - Lost in ECAC NE Semis
Hamline - Lost in MIAC Semis - was on the bubble, replaced on bubble by GAC
Plymouth State - Lost in MASCAC Semis
UMD - Lost in MASCAC Semis

    Put on Bubble

Gustavus Adolphus - Lost in MIAC finals, ranked 3rd in the West
