  • What are the biggest hits you've ever seen?

I'm working on a new sports TV show highlighting the biggest hits and knockouts from all sorts of sports.

What were the biggest hits you've ever seen in a college hockey game? We are looking for the type of hit where the victim wasn't able to get back to his feet for a few moments.

Your suggestions might make it to air!

By far, the scariest incident I ever witnessed was the following (quoting from The NCAA News - page 3 "Oliphant comes to the ‘rescue’"):
Elmira hockey player Mike McNamara received a hard check during that quarterfinal game, which was played at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. He hit his head on the ice and began experiencing grand mal seizures, and then went into cardiac arrest.
It even made the LA Times.

See also: "A happy ending to a scary tale" (Page 4).

Hummm, while it is included in the article, worth reading, especially the second one, nevertheless:

        Date: March 14, 1992
Hit Player: Mike McNamara of Elmira
Delivered Hit: Steve Ashe of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh

You're forgiven I see your point, especially if you are going to try to track down additional information. In the case above, extensive video was available, shot by PSTV (Plattsburgh State Television) - and shown on the local news (perhaps what was also used in the Rescue 911 episode - which unfortunately, I don't recall seeing).

                  Hits?

Dolly Parton ranks right up there.

Anyone recall the hit from Brian Grady (Hamilton) on Hubie Hutton (Bowdoin) on 11/16/96? Pretty brutal. The impact split Hutton's hairline wide open, and he lay cuncussed in a pool of blood on the ice for about 15 minutes. edned his career.
