Re: Number of NHL Draft picks on your team
What's your team, BTW?
MSU-EL has 6 ... but IMHO this question only results in meaningful answers if you weight the numbers.
Because theoretically a 3rd rounder has far more potential than a 6th rounder.
So what about 1st round = 7 points, 2nd round = 6 points, ... , 7th round = 1 point?
MSU-EL: 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 1 = 26 "draft points"
-----------------
Add: Not all that familiar with other league sites, but CCHA.com has rosters with NHL team affiliations next to player names. Also, school athletics website has bio's with NHL draft pick info.Last edited by owslachief; 09-22-2009, 02:30 PM.

Re: Number of NHL Draft picks on your team
15 for UND.
http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/?blog=54362
UND will not have a first-round draft pick on the team this season. The last time that happened was 1999-00, also UND's last national title. In fact, the only first-round pick to win a national title at UND was James Patrick in 1982.
a recent trend of NHL teams going off the board to get a Sioux recruit...guys who were unranked by Central Scouting when they committed to UND but ended up going in the draft
UND's two best players last year were Ryan Duncan and Chay Genoway -- both undrafted players. In fact, three of UND's top four scorers last season were undrafted free agents.Last edited by SoCalSiouxFan; 09-22-2009, 02:53 PM."For me, college hockey was obviously the best step I could have taken to get to the next level." - Jonathan Toews, North Dakota/Chicago Blackhawks

Re: Number of NHL Draft picks on your team
Obviously, high draft choices (Turris, Kessel) are great players, but leave school early and obviously don't contribute as much as guys who stick around for four years.
You might have a pretty good formula if you multiply the draft choice points by the year in school. Say a 5th Round Junior is worth (3 pts X 3 years = 9 pts). A first round Freshman is worth 7 pts (7 X 1 year).Last edited by dggoddard; 09-22-2009, 04:44 PM.
