It's an interesting map, although it's geographically challenged. If you click on Bismarck, ND, it says it's going to be like Mitchell, SD, which it places south and west of Sioux Falls, almost on the Nebraska border. Mitchell is actually west and a little north of Sioux Falls.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

I don't think it is accurate. When one selects Miami the 2080 equivalent should be Atlantis.

    No big deal

During the Cold War, the United States nuked the Marshall Islands 67 times. After it finished nuking the islands, the Pentagon dropped biological weapons on the islands. Once the U.S. was finished, it scooped the irradiated and ruined soil from the islands, poured it into a crater left behind from a nuclear detonation, mixed it all with concrete, and covered the whole thing in a concrete dome. They called it “The Tomb.” According to a report from The Los Angeles Times, climate change is breaking that dome open. Rising sea levels and temperatures are cracking open The Tomb, threatening to spill nuclear waste into the Pacific Ocean.

Two minutes after the right wing parties of Veneto regional council vetoed amendments to a climate change bill, their chambers were inundated with flood water.

China and the United States, the two biggest polluters, expanded their carbon footprints last year.

Four years after countries struck a landmark deal in Paris to rein in greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to avert the worst effects of global warming, humanity is headed toward those very climate catastrophes, according to a U.N. report issued Tuesday, with China and the United States, the two biggest polluters, having expanded their carbon footprints last year.

“The summary findings are bleak,” the report said, because countries have failed to halt the rise of greenhouse gas emissions even after repeated warnings from scientists. The result, the authors added, is that “deeper and faster cuts are now required.”
    Not surprised.

Was only about 15 years ago that everyone was fretting about record low lake levels, so the highest levels ever, or at least in decades, seem great in comparison.

Lake Michigan water levels were getting so low that pieces of infrastructure (boat ramps, docks/piers, etc.) were unusable. People were whining about having to spend money to retrofit them for use. Now with the water some 8' higher, we are on the opposite end of the spectrum.

In Chicago there are harbors where the water is level with the surrounding walkways. Another 6" of rise and people will have to wade to access their $200k party boat. Shoreline erosion is encroaching on structures that have been in place forever, so people are shocked that they are in danger. The high lake levels have been quite eye-opening.

"Just let Nestle bottle that excess water and sell it, that will solve the high water level." (TM) Some GOP Somewhere.

I will say it's good to see the return of Great Lake lake levels from the low they have been this past decade, but yes, storm surge action is now threatening "safe" structures.

Ignore this post. I completely misread Fade’s post. I’m dumb when it’s early. Even when it’s not, for that matter.

Or wait, is fade suggesting that it's better or worse to have high levels. Because it seems immeasurably worse to have the high levels we're experiencing now.
