    Yeah, good luck with that.

I'm always amused by how the media reports GOP intransigence with breathless shock and awe. Bevin refuses to concede because he thinks he would have won. That's news? It would be news if he DID concede. ConservaNazi's are floating some ridiculous scheme to stay in power? Again, what else would anybody with half a brain expect at this point? Bevin could have lost that race by 20 points and he'd still be out claiming irregularities while some GOP hick in office would be saying he'd found some dastardly plan to remain in power after all. Its almost like the news media is made up of an army of Scooby's!

You should have seen Morning Joe this morning. Joe was yelling in the camera at Trump telling him that Bevin was UP by 5 points until his rally. I was dying laughing.

If you looked at my posts I had very positive and optimistic things to say after the 2018 midterms. My overarching theme has been to keep it up, including an earlier post today. Just because I think the world is ending doesn't mean I think it is over or it can't be turned in a positive direction. It's understandable that ANY of us would feel that way if we're old enough to have witness what has been going on in the world since the 1970s (I am and have the achy knees and back to prove it! )

I think with VA trending the way it has there's hope for North Carolina. Sometimes it takes a while for people to throw off their party affiliation long after they should have. A lot of educated voters were most likely clinging to the notion that the majority of the GOP is really those old country club grandfatherly types of their youth. Slowly these people are waking up to the fact that 99% of the GOP are either active Nazi's or have no problem with Nazi's running things. Even in places like KY the suburbs around Louisville (I'm assuming the most prosperous region, I've been there and it looked pretty nice) went Dem this time around.

NC had an Indian Summer a while back but the rot is deeper there and it will take longer. Also, the NC northern invasion is primarily tech and tech bros go through that Lew Rockwell libertarian chud phase. So it will take longer. But it's probably the next Hee Haw state to go.

GA is a whole different thing: that's being driven by black professionals. When GA really does go it's going to be a whole new thing in American politics. They aren't going to f-ck around. As Reggie Hammond said, "I'm your worst nightmare..."

Anybody I've ever known who's moved their family to North Carolina has said the same two things:

1 (upon moving) - "I got a house twice the size for half the price!!!"

2 (6 months later) - "THIS is the best public school in the district? I'm not sending my kids here!!!"

If Trump didnt have donors on the ready giving these guys millions they would cut him off at the knees. Everywhere he goes and holds one of his rallies the numbers for himself or who he supports drop. All he does is get the 36% excited. The rest give him the side eye and walk away.

As for Kentucky...I mean I give them credit for the effort but there is no way that happens.

    Re: 2019 Elections

Kentuckians had a special hate for Bevin, as evidenced by every other statewide official running for office winning fairly comfortably yesterday, meaning there were a lot of ticket-splitters who were still on board with Republicans, just not pieces of s*** like Matt Bevin. That said, with a uniquely awful candidate like Bevin losing by only 5,000 votes to a state family scion like Andy Beshear (his dad was governor who expanded the ACA/Medicaid in the state), I'm fairly confident that Trump is right that McConnell will win comfortably yet again next year, especially with Trump at the top of the ticket. I'll predict a 10% win, despite McGrath's penchant for raising large sums of money and having a good background.

An important point. Often times when a President's party gets smoked in mid-term or off year elections its because of low enthusiasm on their side. That's not the case for Chump. His people as befitting of any cult are 100% engaged and voting every election. And yet, Republicans are STILL getting their a sses kicked. Even in place like Virginia where by and large they are running in districts that they specifically drew to maximum benefit (a handful of VA state house districts got redrawn due to racial gerrymanders, but the majority was fought under a GOP map).

Regarding Kentucky, I reject the glass half empty idiocy of Dems losing downballot races. I suspect Dems didn't invest a lot in those races and regardless nobody thinks Bashaer's win is turning KY into a swing state. However, its nice to have someone who's won statewide in case McConnell ever gives up the ghost and retires to his Dacha on the Baltic Sea or Rand Paul's neighbor finishes the job once and for all.

    Legit LOL. Nice.

Wins beget wins in red states. There won't ever be a lot of them because then it wouldn't be a red state, but it is never a bad thing to have these isolated victories. If nothing else it puts the wind up the national GOP and makes them divert resources.

I still don't understand how taxpayers have had to fund a never ending campaign trail for Trump since basically the day he took office. At what point must his campaign start paying for this s**t? Will we ever know the difference?

Kentucky actually has a long history of electing Democrats statewide and held the General Assembly until 2016. Beshear is currently Kentucky's Attorney's General. Lundergan-Grimes is Secretary of State. It certainly looks like Kentucky is getting redder as evidenced by their sweep last night outside of the governor's race, but to act like those statewide offices were foregone conclusions for Republicans because Kentucky consistently votes Republican on a federal level doesn't fit Kentucky's history.

The union I used to work for had a substantial number of members from Kentucky, mostly the eastern portion of the state. Most of those democrats being elected in the last couple of generations were democrats in name only because of the last vestiges of the democrats being a "southern" party. They may have been a tick better than the republican they were facing on any particular ballot, but all democrats are not created equally.

Kentucky's history is largely irrelevant. People don't split tickets anymore like they used to even 10 years ago. Kentucky has been red for a looong time. I would expect it to mirror West Virginia, a state now largely re-aligned with the occasional exception (Beshear, Manchin) able to break through.

The only reason WV isn't pure R is the state GOP keeps running actual criminals. They are only a matter of time until they are straight red. Ideologically it's right down there with the most vicious backwaters in the country (SC, MS).
