I've actually been meaning to try to make myself into a Jets fan. I've been a Seahawks fan since 1976 but now I find I just don't give a sh-t. Part of this is I just don't care about the NFC so coming back to it was a real drag.

Part of it is I may just been running out of steam on the whole NFL horror show.

So before shuffling off the football coil I was thinking about setting myself a challenge, and adopting the Jets feels tragically right.

You know, it's been 55 years but I can still recite the Confiteor in Latin.

The rest of the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar are hit and miss (in Latin, English is a snap).

The Prayer to St. Michael still hasn't removed Daniel Snyder.

    St. Jude.

St. Michael is used to get rid of Satan, though a bunch of NHL GMs did accomplish the feat.

I'd kill to have learned everything in Latin. If I had to learn all that crap anyway it might as well have been beautiful and significant. Never put your liturgy in the vernacular. It lets the riffraff in on the joke.

I learned it all in English. What Latin I have comes from my parents.

It's not hard. You had a cheat sheet in front of you. Nowadays unless you're SSPX, FSSP, or ICRS your celebrant and the altar boys both have the cheat sheet.

The Altar Cards for the Extraordinary Form are the cheat sheet for the celebrant.

Now taking this to the religion thread for a link that you may want to watch..

No, but I had read about him, and saw him play in college as a (very) young'n. One of the few exceptions from "The U" that I liked. Total stand up guy. Followed him as much as I could in the USFL.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Steelers WYTS in the running for best so far. I mean, it's 99% "Western-PA-is-racist", but they drive the point home very well.

I was driving home from an Ithaca hockey weekend and stopped in central PA at a convenience store for gas and some snack food. Waiting to pay I saw the six guys who are always congregated at every hick store who never buy anything or move and apparently live there and have been friends since kindergarten, and I caught them in media res: "you know what the NFL stands for, right? N-ggers For Life!" Haw haw.

We were all white and male in the store so I'm sure they were "it's just us here..."

Hey, guess what? I did not use that as a Teachable Moment. Instead I left the stuff and went on my way.

I know the old Pennsyltucky joke but in all seriousness the stretch of central PA from Drums to Buckhorn is the most virulently, viciously, and overtly racist part of the country I've ever been in.

The Eagles lured Josh McCown out of retirement... I'm wagering because he won't kneel for the anthem.
