We should welcome anybody who leaves the GOP. People become Republicans for all sorts of reasons. Bad parenting. Lack of education. Falling in with the wrong crowd. A crippling embarrassment during toilet training.

For voters, welcome them unconditionally -- every saved R counts as a 2-vote swing! For Members, welcome them, tell them how to vote, and when they backslide have a better nominee in our back pocket.

      So they should riot?

      Riot:
take part in a violent public disturbance.
      "students rioted in Paris"
synonyms: rampage, go on the rampage, run riot, take to the streets, fight in the streets, start a fight, raise an uproar, cause an affray, run/go wild, run amok, go berserk, fight, brawl, scuffle; informalraise hell
"the miners rioted and attacked the local Party HQ"

How is that any different than people criticizing the righties for the same sort of language?

But even when minorities like me protest peacefully, we get told to shut up and people try and put us back in what they think is our rightful place (for me, it's the closet). Stonewall and the Compton Cafe happened because we had enough.

That is such a straw man...very rarely are riots planned. It is almost always a more spontaneous response to something that happened.

And see we live in a society now filled with people who want harm done to protesters if they dare inconvenience them for 5 seconds so the voice of the people is being lost. That happens long enough and people are going to lash out. That doesnt make violence right, but if it was being done to me I cant say I would act the same way.

Riots are awful but sooner or later they might become a necessary means to an end. When protests and elections dont make things better you gotta be able to do something.

Rioting doesn't work. It's used as a pretext for repression, which is why violent protest is so often by paid agents of the Haves i9n order the de-legitimize protest.

Always remember the state has drilled into everyone that their use of force in defense of injustice is a sacred calling. Look at how cops and soldiers are lionized. On the other hand, any use of force in an attempt to end injustice is considered morally wrong and criminal and is punished with the most excessive violence the state can get away with.

Non-violence is The Way. The thugs and their rightwing supporters will always justify to themselves harming peaceful protesters, or simply flat out lie about it, but the mass of the voting public eventually puts down its remote or its iPacifier and starts paying attention when innocents are massacred by the state. The Left has to use non-violence. We have no other choice.

In all seriousness getting dragged on Twitter isn't exactly the end of the world and Twitter isn't representative of real life anyhow. I just find funny the people who think Republicans became a problem after Trump got elected and not before when they were genociding South America and the middle east, taking away peoples' safety nets, and being slightly less obvious about their racism, among other things.

While it is sometimes harmless there has been plenty of cases where Twitter shaming has destroyed lives. Some really good books have been written on it. Twitter is a cesspool of people just looking to destroy people.

You are right though in this case. This myth that the GOP just became this evil is ridiculous. It has always been there, it just usually had some resistance from the Old Guard who just wanted to make money and not care. The second the Neo-Cons and Tea Partiers gained traction there was no going back.

I agree with him. If you are stupid enough to try and storm a military base because of some conspiracy theory you get little to no sympathy from me. That isnt Authoritarianism that is common sense and Darwinism.

You want to protest the war at a base...perfect. If you want to go in guns blazing looking for Aliens you might want to up your meds.

Conservatism has Reaction at its core. For every Republican who honestly cares about, or can even spell, Edmund Burke, there are 99 who just want to stick it to the n-ggers.

Even at their best the Right always has one foot in the sewer. The only difference is since 1994 it's been both feet, and then in 2016 they got down and rolled around in it panting with their mouths open.

He got 2% in four different polls? Really?

He must be raking on internet polls where his Siliconbros are.

538 should be consulted on credentialing polls. They already grade them. Have a rule where nothing below a B poll counts.
