Not a deal breaker, though. For example, we don't seem to have a price information problem for making fighter jets. God bless CPAF.

You interpreted my proposal correctly. I was not saying we file our medical costs as a tax exemption from our income as Sic interpreted. I was saying we file our medical costs as a straight refund from the Treasury Department. Not 30% of so exempt from tax. 100% recovery.

Now, one might argue it would then be pointless for me to buy insurance and pay the premiums if whatever I eventually pay for medical care I can just get refunded, whereas the premiums would not be recoverable. And one might be right. But if that's a downstream effect of my proposal that's just what the market decides. I would never, ever advocate for the violent death of health insurance companies and all the wonderful work they do for the consumer.

      Heaven forbid.

He’s a moron. The numbers have been run several times. Medicare has something like a 3% overhead whereas private insurance is closer to 20%.

No, you'd be replacing a private bureaucratic system with a larger governmental bureaucratic system.

If eliminating private insurance and Medicare for all is the answer then why do 1/3 of all people on Medicare chose to go with a private insurer and the number is growing each year and expected to hit 50% some time in 2025? And why is the government, Congress, been pushing more people to these private insurers? Efficiency and controlling costs, private insurers are more efficient because that’s where the profit is. Why do people chose to go with private insurance? Better coverage/more benefits.
Over 90% of people new to Medicare chose the Gubermint out of ignorance, but once they learn they get better benefits and speedier response from private insurance, they switch.

you lefties are a riot, it would be even more humorous if the consequences of your ignorance wasn't so damaging
Drugs in nearly every OECD nation cost like half of what they do here, they have better health outcomes, and it doesn't cost as much. This isn't hard.

I’ve said this half a dozen times now. Medicare seems easy until you or someone in your family enrolls. It’s a ****ing mess and it’s ridiculously complex. My dad is the smartest guy I know when it comes to this stuff. He struggled through the process.

I’m for single payer, but it can’t look like Medicare.

Private almost always has more overhead than public. It’s just a fact.

                        that's an entirely different discussion

as for your claim of better outcomes, outright lie or ignorance on your part

so explain why a third of Medicare customers get it through private insurance and why that number grows each year?

I can't speak for everyone, but I and everyone I have talked to, when you receive better coverage for the same price, and get better service, it is a no brainer,
