Wasn't it Kris Mayotte of Providence who left for the Michigan job, not a Harvard guy? In any event, I must have missed the initial report. But it looks like the Brown staff and AD have moved quickly in identifying candidates, per the Tweet you shared. Hoping it resolves itself soon enough!

Oops . It was Mayotte who went to UMICH.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

Rob Rassey of Harvard left in late July to take a scouting role with the Red Wings, so it was a similar timeline and nature of departure.

In any event, it's frustrating to lose an assistant to a program Brown would like to consider its peer, rather than a notch above. If Marcou had taken a Hockey East role, that's one thing. But...Harvard? Ugh.

Looks like Brown will soon fill the vacated role with Northeastern assistant Jason Smith: https://twitter.com/MarkDivver/statu...032074752?s=20

Picked 7th in the coaches' poll: https://www.ecachockey.com/men/2019-...and_All-League

Seems reasonable to me given we return quite a bit and were very young last season, though we need to find a lead scorer to take the reigns with Marchin gone. Gottlieb will be greatly missed, as well. Excited to see who steps up, and how the freshmen perform!

              Nesterenko de-commits: https://twitter.com/MarkDivver/statu...602931712?s=20

Too bad. This seems to happen periodically: The staff identifies a talent before the blue bloods, gets a commitment from him early, and then after he has a breakout at a showcase event, some of the bigger programs get in his ear and promise an easier path to the NHL, and we lose him.

Dang! I was looking forward to seeing him play. Kid has sick, sick hands. BTW, Lafferty was called up to Pens last night.

One of the responses pointed out that this is the time of year "commits" see their stock skyrocket after performing well in front of a bunch of scouts, so de-commits are normal. Still disappointing to see Brown lose two in quick succession, though. Now Whittet et al will need to scramble to find a back-up plan.

Sam Lafferty was called up to Pittsburgh recently, and has a 3-2-5 line in 4 NHL games! He scored 2 last night in the Pens' 7-2 shellacking of Winnipeg, and had a goal and 2 assists in the previous game against Minnesota. First time I've ever rooted for anyone on the Pens, I think.

Had read Cornell was in the running for Nesterenko but at least you didn’t lose him to another Ivy. He chose BC.

Ah, the Miles Wood route. Good move. Glad it's not Cornell.
