The States: North Dakota? Come On, Ohio Is The Worst State Ever.

We really need to take Cedar Point and Toledo back and turn the rest of Ohio into a lake. Lake Inferior, for obvious reasons.

    Fixed.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Yes, Rube, because it was Democrats who immediately sought to strip power away from Republican officials after they were elected.

    That's not quite fair.

The herd instinct is "inside group good; outside group bad." It's rooting for your team (nation, race, religion, whatever) by reflex.

Therefore the first grade in learning to think critically is to take claims of uniqueness , good or bad, and submit them to criticism. That develops into a critical instinct and it's a good one.

But the lazy and fatalist simply substitute "everything's the same" for rigorous analysis.

Therefore the second grade in learning to think critically is to evaluate context and experience and be willing to make commitments to evaluations. Bad guys depend on people not taking this second step. It's how they hide behind false equivalency, bothsiderism, and whataboutism.

The fact that we have cognitive biases we need to watch does not obviate the fact that sometimes there really are monsters.

    Yeah.

    Republicans attacked? Both sides.
    Democrats attacked? Deafening silence.

For some, "both sides" is a disingenuous argument. For some it is born of a tendency to seek the security of the herd by avoiding exposure.

You're right. Democrats never whined about anything ever. My bad. Just because it's "your side" (the royal "your" as it pertains to anyone here), it's not whining. It's a valid complaint. Gimme a break. All politicians whine for their party. Just depends on the year, when the other side is in power.

Lots of "trailer park ugly" in those mugshots. Not sure what Kep sees in the South.

Come hither Scots Irish vs frigid Nordic. The only redheads you find up north are Mas-sholes. I got nowhere else to go!

Believe me, I'm no happier about it than anyone else...
