I have only watched FF1 but this whole article and, especially, comments are wonderful. I have no idea what they're talking about but it is enchanting to me.

Fast and Furious films are fun video game style movies and never pretend to be otherwise. They are enjoyable eye candy and great ways to waste a few hours. They are Michael Bay Films only better.

Apparently Dwayne Johnson is referred to as "Franchise Viagra" in the biz. Slap his name up on the marquee and it's an instant $50 million box office bump.

While I have never seen one (the trailers told me all I need to know), that is probably a good way of putting it. Although, guessing not as good as a Liam Neeson action movie.

Edit: Dwane Johnson description is correct. It's too bad, actually, I think he could do some other stuff successfully, if he got the chance. He was awesome in Be Cool.

I always have a soft spot for Tokyo Drift.

Speaking of that, it qualifies on the Rotten Tomatoes challenge. (39%)

Not gonna look back, but is the RT THEIR score or AUDIENCE score? Because I finally checked the rating on a movie that I really do like, and it's 25% RT, 77% audience.

Gone In 60 Seconds remake. I know, I know, but it's a fun movie.

Liam Neeson films are ok, outside of Taken 1 though the drop off is quite steep. Fast and Furious films are better IMHO.

Gone in 60 Seconds is great. Awesome cast basically hamming it up driving cars. (see also: Fast and Furious franchise)

You wonder if the makers of the Gi60S remake are kicking themselves seeing what F&F has made the past 20 years.

For me Gone in 60 Seconds blows any of the "original concept" F&F movies out of the water. There is pretty distinctive difference in what the F&F franchise started as, and what it has become however. A modern F&F movie has nothing in common w/ the original other than Vin Diesel.

In the early 2000s I was heavily involved in "legit" motorsports and had been for some time as both a fan and participant (non-driver). That timeframe as a whole saw a massive influx of people into "Car Culture" because it was the "in" thing to do. These movies spurred the "tuner" culture side of it and I hated that. You had kids who had no idea how to change their oil suddenly become experts on how to trip out their Honda Civic w/ stickers and a bolt on rear wing. It was insulting to be talked down to by kids who had these cars because I drove a minivan, a Ford Escort sedan, or a compact pickup at the time, despite working in the pits of both drag and circle track cars for several years at that point. I just can't forgive the F&F franchise for being the catalyst for all that BS that I had to deal with
