That is pure ****ing stupidity there.
Admittedly, that is pretty bad. Oh, Joe. Can you really be that out of the loop after 8 years watching Barack get pummeled by these morons?

Yeah, that's why McConnell already said he's going to sit on his *** if a Dem is in the White House in 2021. Joe's a moron.

Because there are still lots of people in this country who want to see there be bipartisanship even if it is not really possible.

"We are having a legitimate debate about the virtues of socialism, and I don't want you to think it's just a 28-year-old congresswoman from New York. This is much broader than that. I've got five colleagues in the Senate five colleagues running for president who have signed on to the Green New Deal and Medicare For All," McConnell said. "I don't want you to think this is just a couple of nutcases running around on the fringe. This is pervasive policy view on the other side.

"Are we going to turn this into a socialist country? Don't assume it cannot happen," he added. "If I'm still the majority leader of the Senate, think of me as the 'Grim Reaper.' None of that stuff is going to pass none of it."

We all want "bipartisanship." I want to see the parties work together: a vibrant, creative left liberal party and a vibrant, creative center-right Eisenhower Era conservative party.

"Bipartisanship" begs the question. We would all like compromise, amity, and conciliation. But we all also have our limits for what we're willing to compromise with. Liberals won't compromise with fascists. Republicans won't compromise with non-fascists.

The roadblock in our political system is not an unhealthy sign of dysfunction in our politics, it is a healthy sign that one of the parties has gone completely insane and that broke the system. The fact that we are at an impasse means the system works. The parties cannot work together because Nazis took over the Republican party.

Yes. And I am asking how us as Democrats wants to handle it, and how we are supposed to react to what our candidates are saying. For me it's an immediate "no I will not vote for you in the primary" reaction. And, I actually really like Gillibrand and her stands on the issues.

As of right now for me the only candidate speaking to me is Elizabeth Warren. She's the only one checking all the boxes.

I would tend to agree other than her stance on Medicare for All which she's waffled on and doesn't explicitly support.

Also when people on the left say they want bipartisanship, they mostly mean that they want the other side to compromise toward their goals, not, "let's enact ****ty republican legislation like destroying social security".

I'd still be fine with most of the Dems, even the centrists. I killed Tulsi the day she entered for insider reasons. Many of the smallfry (Williamson, Massam, Moulton, Swalwell, Gravel) are non-entities. Yang isn't a candidate but I want him around to get people used to UBI -- it's going to be in our platform in 20 years.

I have too little info to judge Hickenlooper, Bennet, Bullock, Inslee, Ryan, and de Blasio, though some of them (Inslee, Ryan) look like they are good on at least some important issues.

That still leaves a big field of folks I can live with: Castro, Booker, Klobuchar, Gillibrand, Biden, as well as folks I actively like: Harris, Warren, Sanders, O'Rourke, Buttigieg. I'd like Abrams and Gillam if they got in, too.

That is fine and dandy...you understand that not everyone in this country thinks that way right?

Scooby asked why and that is the answer. It is stupid but the truth is most people dont pay enough attention to care. They see two sides who refuse to work together and just want that to end. Those people want to hear that the candidate wont just stick their nose up at the other side and not do a ****ed thing. You may not like it, and I am sure you will write a 5 paragraph essay with full annotation and footnotes about how dumb they are and how they shouldnt count...but it is still the truth.

As everyone has said each candidate needs to find their niche. Mayor Pete and Biden arent uber lefty progressives so courting the middle is their best bet right now. The Middle doesnt want divide.

You're already being more reasonable than trix, who will probably organize the next fart-in event at the DNC if it's anyone to the right of Sanders or Warren.

Too close to call. Democrats already tried this with Kerry in 2004 so I'm sure they might be stupid enough

My point is everyone does think that way, as long as they get to define the two poles they are compromising between.

So I am fine compromising between drawing and quartering the rich as opposed to merely decapitating them. I would prefer the former, but I won't quibble.

Your average Dumpy is fine with compromising between enslaving all non-whites as opposed to merely murdering them. He, too, has a preference depending on whether he's "moderate" or "the base."

In our own minds none of us are unreasonable.

Maybe, Dump is very unpopular and Uncle Touchy doesn't exactly need to reinvent the wheel to beat him. But I think it'll be close when Dumpy can just both sides him on every single issue because he's been on the wrong side of history on just about everything during his career.
