NY Times has an article on Youngstown Ohio.

There’s No Boom in Youngstown, but Blue-Collar Workers Are Sticking With Trump
Kepler is right. White working class is hopeless.

“The Democratic Party has lost its voice to speak to people that shower after work and not before work,” he said. “All we’re saying is he won’t turn over his tax returns. He’s saying, ‘I’m fighting China to get you better jobs.’”
This is just moronic. Read anything on Warren, or Sanders, or even Tim Ryan who comes from your own ****ing state. ****ing morons.

Just a nit: this particular thing is ignorant, not stupid. You could have reasonably intelligent people but if they are locked in the RWNJ killing jar they will literally never hear or see anything to counter their comic book version of the world, where Dump is Captain America and the Dems are a great horde of enemies.

True, it probably requires a degree of stupidity to suspend all your critical faculties when it comes to politics and slurp up what Fox and Rush are serving you as fact. But to be precise, this is an example of the "ignorant" slice of the Great Rightwing Venn Diagram {stupid, ignorant, crazy}.

mookie has brought up many times how bush won a debate with algore when a woman from the town hall ask about their tax plans and how they would impact her.

43 replied, "if you make X, with my plan you will take home an extra Y"
algore replied, "if you go back to school you will see a credit of Y. if you buy solar for your home you will see credit of X.."

one could hear the eyeballs rolling back into heads with algore. like it or not, workers want their money in their pocket. they don't want to hear about tax law being used to direct behavior. they want to make their choices.

THAT is the essence of the quoted here.

nothing the D say address this.

it is important, no doubt, to address different groups and all... but scooby always asked how 53% of white women vote for td? they don't hear their group come up with talk of help for this or protection for that.

if the D want to get people to listen, whyn't start a speech with:
"the D party is strongly pro-capitalism. but capitalism rewards a businessman who takes risks. jamie dixon doesn't take any risk. he gets paid $40million whether Chase makes money or not. his company received $999 billion in aid in 2008. if he is a capitalist he would have had to come up with that to cover his losses, his risk that allowed him to reap the 'rewards'. did he lose his job? no, YOU lost your job as a teller or office worker. YOU lost your job because dixon didn't have the money available to allow Chase extend credit to your company. jamie dixon is all reward and no risk. his reward is 2,000x the average Chase workers income. THAT is what we are going to tax, that excess. his marginal income, that above the $2,000,000th dollar -- THAT is being taxed at 70% to pay for our education system failures to fix. our highways to fix. our bridges to fix. jamie dixon's wealth, that asset value on his 3rd home over $5,000,000. THAT is being subjected to the wealth tax at 5% to fund health coverage for all americans."
a legend and an out of work bum look a lot alike, daddy.

But if the newspaper is a propaganda piece for Party X, then it's not news.

Which, since the dawn of the printing press, has been the case, hasn't it? Therefore it's important to have at least 2 papers available that aren't on the same page, so to speak.

I have the WaPoo. I know it is virulent anti-Trump, so I read it with a jaundiced eye. The WaTi and WaEx are right, but have trouble writing a coherent sentence - so they get skimmed online and if I see something that looks interesting, I'll read it.

All three papers, though, suck on local coverage.

That's all marginal tax rates have ever been, joe. That's all every Dem who wanted "higher taxes" ever wanted.

The greatest success of the GOP has been deliberately obscuring that to make you think that higher taxes on that risk-free top end income means higher taxes on your actually-earned-and-worked-for income.

This is why early on in my callow youth I wished we would just zero out income tax up to $250k (or something) and fund everything on taxes above that. The "no skin in the game" argument has some merit, but it allows the right to cynically lie about taxes and make Joe Dumbf-ck think we're interested in his piddling rat catcher salary.

                    We aren't.

Next, name me the Kep/trix approved liberal who's won statewide in a swing or red state. Bonus points if that person isn't named "Sherrod Brown".

For all of your talk about how democratic socialism is the immediate future, it sure seems to have trouble winning *any* elections. Are a few "show me" victories too much to ask????

You act like this stuff all happens in a bubble where the establishment isn't throwing truck loads of money at ****ty conservadems while blacklisting progressive candidates lmao. Or in some cases the DCCC literally told more progressive candidates who ended up winning their primary to drop out altogether while having big wigs from the party give paid speeches for the establishment's pick. Despite all evidence that most dems in this country based on polls are to the left of their representatives.

And then you go "yEaH bUt tHe pRoG cAnDiDaTe dIdN't wIn sTaTewIde" lmfao. And the Justice Democrat/Our Revolution candidates I want to say won 33% of their primaries with maybe 1/100 of the funding going mostly against incumbents who have a built in advantage? So **** off with your disingenuous bull**** that the average high schooler could see through.

And the problem the Democrats have is they cant talk to people. Period end of story. You know why the Blue Collar Workers vote against their interests...because Democrats dont know how to explain to them that is against their interest. (I cant believe I am saying this but) mookie is right. If you cant tell people how what you are doing affects them in terms they will understand they arent going to magically decide to vote for you. They dont even care if you are lying to them they just want to be spoken to.

The fact that 90% of the crap the Dems are on TV for is Trump related really kills them. Get back tot he issues and for God's sakes hire someone who knows how to frame an issue correctly.
