But if a goalie somehow manages to pull that off, it's a goal.
Not true anymore. No player may score a goal using any part of their hand or arm even unintentionally. A GK thrown ball into the goal results in a goal kick.

        From Law 10:
If the goalkeeper throws the ball directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal kick is awarded.

No. A team must always have GK at all times. If the GK is sent off (or injured and unable to continue) and the team has no remaining substitutes then someone on the field must become the GK.

          Always funny when it happens.

Okay, so they changed the rule since I was a certified ref, which is a long time ago.

A shame in some ways. I always loved those bizarre rules that every sport has. Not only are they good for winning a beer bet in a bar, but they are just fun to think about actually happening. Not to mention, in some cases like this one, it is so improbable, that my feeling is if it does happen, they should allow it!

So that seems like soccers version of a "Fair Catch ---> Free Kick FG attempt" in American Football... It's there but gets attempted like once every 10-15 years . It does become a fun game of "What If...."

So, basically the same as a throw-in, the other time that players are allowed to put the ball into play using their hands. Makes sense, I guess.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

That’s dumb. I see no reason why that had to change.

                    England vs America.

                    Happy Independence Day!

The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

In honor of the Brazil-Argentina match tomorrow, let's go back to their match in 1991.

Before any complaints of why some fouls don't get cautions please just remember stuff like this.

Sounds like you guys would’ve enjoyed the old State Referee test. That thing was a 100 bar bet questions.
