The Notre Dame Cathedral held the first mass since the fire.
Also, remember all those billionaires who pledged hundreds of millions of Euros to the rebuilding effort. You won't believe this, but they've reneged on the pledges. Weird, I know. They got tons of great publicity in the wake of the fire and now that the bill is due and no one is paying attention they have all mysteriously lost their wallets. Almost a billion was pledged but less than $18 million has been received. 90% of those donations have come from the United States.

Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Notre-Dame came far closer to collapsing than anybody knew. It is still standing only because firefighters decided to risk everything, our reconstruction has found.— The New York Times (@nytimes) July 17, 2019
But hey, oxygen isn't that important to human life, right?
