Notre Dame Cathedral is burning down...

Here's an NBC live feed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIXxTrAa9nc

There are a ton of them right now.

There was a lot of construction equipment for a major renovation. Right now, people theorize that it started there.

    But it's pretty much gone.

    There's another theory... https://www.newswars.com/notre-dame-...ately-started/

And given the size of those flames, I could certainly see it as a possibility.

Oh, it was certainly one wonder of a place. Great acoustics, too. Of course this isn't the first time there was destruction, as IIRC it used to have the royal lineage until the Revolution.

You must not know that most of the inner structure is made of wood, an entire forest's worth. So there's more than enough fuel to make flames that large.

While it could be possible, the flame size has nothing to do with that.

You should be smart enough to know that....

People should be smart enough for a lot of things, but there we have it.

I'm well aware of the building. And considering the fire started in the roof, which given the structure of the cathedral needs to have that sort of truss support...

I'm just not buying the cover story, especially given the migrant takeover and Yellow Vest activity on the weekends.

Given the renovations and all the scaffolding, I'm going to believe this was a terrible, terrible accident until proven otherwise.

While I have been there, it never dawned on me that there was so much wood until you see it burning. So much, that there was little hope to really put it out...

Just saw one of the live feeds where it appears that the fire has gotten into one of the bell towers... Which were recently restored.

Has anyone heard whether the cathedral was open for tourists today, or whether it was closed due to the construction? It seems like there should have been people around about the time it started.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

What I heard was that it was partially open, being Holy Week.

I can hear church bells. I wonder if they are ringing them from the other churches to say goodbye.
