A pretty good turn out for the STH BBQ at the Tsongas last night. I believe most if not all the team was there. It was good to hear Chancellor Moloney bring up the practice rink/facility at the end of her comments. Hopefully it will finally happen.

It was noted here recently that Scanlon has done a pretty good job covering Lowell hockey. So this is sad news, as he's out from the Sun as of Friday.

LOWELL — Sophomore defenseman Croix Evingson has decided to transfer from UMass Lowell.
Evingson recently notified head coach Norm Bazin of his decision. The native of Anchorage, Alaska, only played in 16 of UML’s 38 games this past season.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Evingson saw action in 16 games as a freshman. He finishes his UML career with one goal and seven assists.
Bazin said he was “a little bit” surprised by Evingson’s decision, especially following the news that star defenseman Mattias Goransson would forego his senior season to play pro hockey in his native Sweden.
“He said he needs more ice time. I thought there was a wonderful opportunity for more ice time here,” Bazin said Monday. “You’re not going to keep everyone happy. It’s a competitive environment. I wish him the best.”
UML is set to graduate five seniors — Connor Wilson, Ryan Dmowski, Christoffer Hernberg, Avni Berisha and Nick Master. Two others — Goransson and Ryan Lohin — left UML after their junior seasons to turn professional.
Evingson and forward Cole Paskus have elected to transfer. Evingson arrived in Lowell with high expectations. During his last year of junior,
he scored 52 points in 59 games for Shreveport of the North American Hockey League. He was a seventh-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Bazin said UML’s incoming freshman class will consist of eight or nine players.

Nice. Sounds like somebody thinks he has potential. Hopefully it pays off

13 Lowell players were named All-American scholars by the AHCA today for earning a 3.60 or better in both semesters. Only AIC and Robert Morris had more among D1 men's teams.

It looks like Devan McConnell will no longer be involved with the team. Best of luck to him.

Saturday home games will start at 6:00 pm this season. The exhibition game on December 29 will be against a team of Canadian All-Stars.

The move to 6 p.m. on Saturday is meant to create a more fan friendly start time and comes after months of surveying season seat members, previous ticket buyers and the student population.

I must have missed that survey. I haven't gotten a single email about hockey except for the invite to the meat the team.

CCHL All-Stars to be specific. Might help with recruiting. Knoblauch and Levesque both came from that league.

This kind of exhibition is odd isnt it? I haven't dug through the bylaws but how does this count in terms of scheduling rules.

Edit: I'm happy to have it... mom and dad decided they're coming here for Thanksgiving so I'll miss the "tournament"

How is it odd? They played a team of Russian junior All-Stars a few years ago. Is it really that much different than played the US Under-18 team?

I'm guessing it just seems odd because for quite a while Lowell has played some Canadian team as their exhibition game before the season starts, which is also the most common use of the exhibition game for a lot of teams.

Has an NCAA team played a CCHL all-star team before? I am wondering how competitive that game will be.
