I expect there will be some Miami recruits looking for a new place to go. I know of one in SE Michigan in particular.
On a different Miami note does anyone think they would have been better off keeping the coach and moving to the WCHA? Not sure that would even be an option but I see them always being in the bottom half of that league.

The cost for them to buy out of the NCHC is prohibitive.

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies Off-Season 2019: The Quest to Get Hard
I'm still feeling like the one hit wonder music star. We made it, we were good, we were competitive and someone took away the prom queen crown. I sure hope last season was an anomaly. And we can get back to our winning ways next year.

Most of us knew this was going to be a re-building year. Our schedule had us drinking the Koolaid playing most of our winnable games in the first half of the schedule. The second half we played the top half of our league and were shown as being a re-building team. We have a completely new D-core from 2 years ago. We lost a lot of size/strength/talent/leadership/grit from last years team.
I don't think Marv would be doing better. He isn't exactly setting the world on fire with the skunk weasels.
We have a good young group of players and some other players started to step up. I hope the guys put in the work this off-season to improve skill wise. Tyler can get the guys bigger, faster, stronger, and well conditioned for next year. If the guys buy in Joe and staff will coach them up.

I like our coaches and I like our team!
Comparing 2017-18 Freshman scoring to 2018-19 there is a lot to be hopeful about. 2017-18 there were 2 Freshman goal scorers;
Misiak - 7th on the team with 8 goals
Reitmeier - 12th on the team with 5 goals
This past season
Halonen - 1st on the team with 12 goals - 21 points total
Broetzman - 3rd on the team with 8 goals - 14 points total
Bliss - Tied for 5th on the team with 6 goals - 15 points total
Parronttino - Tied for 5th on the team with 6 goals - 10 points total
The concerning part for me is the lack of improvement by the non-freshman and the possibility of this happening to the Freshman for whatever reason that caused these to plateau or fall
I would be interested to hear if the coaches have a theory on why the production fell off so much in the upper classes. The senior scoring was way down as well but since they are gone that doesn't matter as much.

Gould played 7 fewer games. Beretta, 22 fewer, Smith 7 fewer, Misiak played 6 fewer. Beretta’s points per game was the best he’s had.

Size, strength, and buy-in. Gould reminds me of other sub 5-8 guys 150lb guys. They are great #3 option. Joel lived in the hard ice, Lucch was just outside the hard ice, and Gould was able to skate freely. He is quick enough to get loose pucks and score on the empty net. Now he needs to be the guy in/near the hard ice and with a smaller frame, struggles. 2017-2018, he was always on the puck and his name was called all the time. 2018-2019, only a hand full of games did I hear his name called frequently. He was invisible most games.
I think Smith was a buy-in case who had to grow into a hard nosed center and he went to the top line. I think he had to grow and adapt, which he did in the last month of the season. He is one that could have struggled buying in.
Misiak had a bit of a sophomore slump. The graduation of Baltus hurt their play.
Baretta, He wasn't on the ice every game and +/- 4 points isn't much.
A big little talked about item, the loss of Birks (18 points), Auk* (31 points), and Reinke (24 points) really hurt our offensive attack. The forwards could break out faster (better break out passes), take more chances (stronger D play), or have that 4th attacker (Auk) jumping in on plays stressing the D. (*moved to forward mid season).
Seamus is very good at distributing the puck. Outside of him... the guys have some growing to do. We also don't have many/any D-man with a heavy shot that opposing teams must go out and cover. That allows the forwards to pinch down, attack the puck, and get more guys in the shot/passing lanes. All of that takes away time/space and makes everything harder for the forwards, but especially for guys like Gould. It also allows their forwards to cheat for breakouts, forcing our D-men back and more hesitant to jump into the offensive zone. It makes everything a battle, faceoffs/turnovers/50-50 battles/ puck possession that much more critical as there is no space to make cute one against many plays.

I should have done all my research. I didn't realize these guys missed that many games. Thanks for the additional info, it explains some of the drop off.
