Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Was it a clear penalty on replay? It didn’t look that bad (marginal call) in person.
Yes the Q player was about a foot off the boards. He didn’t get creamed, but you can’t make the hit assuming the ref is going to let it go because it’s the last minute of the game. Just dumb.

OK. From the other side it didn’t look like he was far enough off the boards to be in a dangerous situation and the hit, it the grand scheme of things, wasn’t that hard. But when 3x RPI fans that could see the whole situation concur with the ref, then you know it was a fair call.

There are two different CFB considerations: One off the boards (2) and into the boards (5 + game).

The call announced was boarding, not CFB. Since it didn’t seem violent enough for ordinary contact with the boards to become boarding, I presumed that it was based on the threat of dangerous contact based on the distance to the boards. However the call was made by the ref looking from the far face-off circle in the same end (I.e. looking through the players to see the contact point with the boards and not in a position to gauge distance), not the ref on the same side at center ice that could see the distance to the boards. Perhaps the calling ref just saw it as more violent than I did.
I don't think so, he was playing the puck, not checking the player, It was a hockey play. Watch the replay, and you will see his stick play the puck. That may look like a penalty in real time, but it was not.
And another penalty called at a time in the game that should not have been called anyway.
I am probably just too old to remember when referees were told to let the players decide the game.
