    Good game...good action.

Major delay due to injury to Svetek from Team Ontario.

Grabbed her knee after going into the boards.

    Que 1-Ont 0 after 2.

Have definitely noticed an improvement in play since the first couple of games early this week, at least in the teams that I've seen play more than once.

But for some it's nothing but an uphill slog. I believe it was Newfoundland whose goalie apparently faced 248 shots over four games!

She'll be doing a lot of sleeping.

    Que 1 - Ont 0 Final.

    Really good game.

Quebec advances to the Gold Medal Game tomorrow at 12:30 CST.

Blayre Turnbull was doing the colour commentary yesterday so I assume that that was her tonight in this game as well although I didn't hear her name mentioned.

How frequently do you see a women's/girls' final without Ontario in these province vs. province events?

    Rarely.

    Extremely rarely.

As I explained previously and alluded to a couple more times, once in reverse, it comes down to demographics. It usually comes down to the four provinces with the largest populations and therefore the largest gene pools to draw from. It's that simple.

Imagine Minnesota constantly in tournaments with Rhode Island and/or Vermont and you will see that Ontario, Quebec, B.C. and Alberta are the equivalent of the 9 ft volleyball players at every Canadian hockey tournament. (Manitoba and Saskatchewan are the 7-8 footers). They have a virtually unassailable advantage.

Which, obviously, is why you see some 15 - 0 blowouts of teams from the least populated provinces...the Maritime Provinces and Yukon and the NWT.

So, it comes down to six provinces, Quebec through B.C across the map, geographically speaking, with the two middle provinces, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, usually not quite as strong as the other four.

Gold Medal Game (Que vs Ab) about to start...televised on TSN.

    Quebec coach is Noemie Marin.

    Alberta coach is Carla McLeod.

    Alberta 1 - Quebec 0 after one.

    Excellent game.

Don't know who the play by play guy is but he is adding tremendous value to the game...like Gord Miller does.

    Tremendous job.

    Alberta 2 - Quebec 1 after two.

Great game with Albert fortunate to still have the lead.

Lots of pressure by Quebec who also almost scored off a weird bounce on a dump in off the glass. McKee, the Alberta goalie, was moving behind the goal line to cut off the puck when it took the strange bounce (maybe off a mullion) and she had to turn and dive back into the crease to stop what would otherwise have been a goal for Quebec.

This nationally televised game is sure to be a great motivator for a lot of younger girls watching to get involved in the sport.

    Alberta 2 - Quebec 1 Final.

In an absolute canoe tipper. Tremendously entertaining. Best game by far that I've seen all week.

Quebec dominated play in the last two periods but couldn't get one past McKee after having several opportunities.

They pulled Gascon with 1:44 left in regulation but later took a stupid penalty.

With a few seconds left and now shorthanded they pulled Gascon again but the clock compounded the pressure which created confusion which caused Quebec to have too many men on the ice for the final few seconds but no one noticed!

Amazing how the quality of play has increased since Wednesday.

Full house for the game...but it doesn't hurt that the home team is in the Gold Medal Game.

B.C. defeated Ontario 5-4 for the Bronze Medal in an old fashioned shoot out.

I'd be interested to know who some of the top D1 recruits are of those who played in this tournament.

McKee, Kirk, Kennedy and Messier come to mind. Anyone have any of that information?
