I checked the Journal for coverage of the weekends games. Surprise, they had two sentences on the women both days. 0, zip, nada on the men’s Games.

    Unreal.
Edit: i’m Talking about the physical paper.

Last weekend (can't remember which day) any mention of the men's game was on page 6. Milewski does a great job, but I'm sure his hands are tied when it comes to hard copy.

I see Delaney is stepping down in 2020. Don't let the door hit you in the ***; Can we make it immediate? The only person worse than him for the game of hockey (if that is possible) would be Alvarez as commish.

Well, I'm pretty sure that they blew past the deadline of getting the Friday game into the Saturday paper when they went into overtime.

I would suspect similar issues with the Saturday game.

Starting at 8pm and going to overtime is a bad formula for getting articles in the print version.

Oh sorry, I mean Milwaukee journal. I imagine the state journal had the write ups.

Seriously, how in the **** can BTN not be broadcasting ANY of the first round tournament games??? The folks in Minnesota get to see theirs on Fox Sports North, well, because Minnesota, but UW-PSU and ND-MSU are both simple arena feeds on the pay-extra "plus" tier. What a cluster. They have half a dozen alternate BTN channels they turn on for football, but they can't even muster ANY broadcast coverage of their conference's own tournament? [/URL]

I see women's Bouncy Ball is on BTN this Friday and I wondered if B1G WBB really out draws B1G Hockey? And then I thought, while attendance is probably pretty close, I imagine the overriding factor is that there are 14 B1G WBB progams and only 6 B1G Hockey programs. I wonder how much B1G Hockey gets drowned out at the B1G table for having a minority of member schools? I mean Indiana and Purdue, etc. certainly don't give a **** about B1G Hockey. We really, really, need to get two more B1G members to start Hockey.

I wonder if K'Andre and Dominic will be able to go this weekend? Mersch seems to be still hurting from a hip check he threw two weeks ago at PSU (which took him out of the game) despite trying to go last weekend. I wonder if they hold K'Andre out Friday and wait to play him if they lose a game.

I have to say I have a tremendous amount of respect for the way Jake Bunz stepped into the lineup and sucked up some minutes the last few games. I can't imagine how tough mentally it is to not play for so long, then suddenly get called up to go out of the blue. And then to have the maturity to take it in stride and play well. I thought he was very good considering the situation. Kept his play smart and simple, yet wasn't afraid to jump up in the play and contribute a couple big assists. I know they shortened the bench and he didn't see much action late in games, but I thought he really handled himself extremely well.

No, that's crap. That is not what we were told when they started this conference. More lies from the Big7... I am just shocked....

And the worst part is I pay these jack wagons so I can watch the hockey team....

Anyone think the choice to not broadcast the first round games might have been done to encourage more subscriptions to the BTNplus service?

If it was an organization that did anything with any actual thought, sure. But that would require a brain. Having watched how they have botched Big "10" Hockey coverage from the get go, it is pretty clear they have none.

That's not it; they just don't like hockey. Doing some quick math comparing women's basketball against men's hockey (WI, MN, OSU, MI, MSU, PSU, ND, only) average women's BB attendance last year was 4400 and that includes over an 8000 average at N.Dame (must have a good program). Men's hockey was 6500 with a low of 4600 at N.Dame. Those were actual tix sold...women's BB has a substantial higher number of no-shows.

Not me, and I've made my opinion on this known a few times. I chose to pay extra for a higher tier on DirecTV to get BTN, etc. They (BTN) aren't getting another penny from me.

Brian Posick and Ian Perrin (for home games) are great on the radio; although Paul Capobianco (road games) is a little boring, he knows what he's talking about.

Especially when they make it clear every football Saturday that they have the technical capacity to provide multiple feeds as needed on the regular BTN feed (that we all already pay to receive.) I understand not doing that for every sport's games, but the playoffs seem like the place for BTN to use that capacity to provide the best coverage of all of their own conference's tournament games - especially if there is NO coverage on any other outlets.

This weekend is just a really shameful example of how poorly Big 10 Hockey is treated by their own conference's network. They'd likely say "There's no audience for it." The hockey programs should be arguing that you can't build an audience if there's no chance for the audience to watch. What a stupid mess.

I haven't looked it up but there are 14 WBB progams x 4400 = 61,600 / home game vs 7 MH programs (counting ND who isn't really in the B1G ) x 6500 = 45,500/ home game. So in total I guess WBB probably draws more when it's all said and done, but neither is drawing anything like MBB of FB.

But my point about getting 2 more B1G Hockey programs is just what you said, "they don't like hockey." And when there are B1G conference meetings, and votes and stuff that comes up, 8 members don't like hockey right now, and only 6 do. It just occurs to me that it would be very helpful at various times in the future to change that to a majority of 8 who do like hockey and have a serious investment in it's future success.
