Guarantee they are going to make it not their fault. It's the Trump way.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

With New Mexico and Cali governors ordering NG troops away from the border and calling it a staged crisis and O'Rourke rallying in El Paso, it doesn't look like the Wall Stand is going to go well for Trump. It will be interesting to see if he throws anyone from his own side under the bus. He no doubt got a few bucks for wall construction/maintenance in the compromise, and his base will be energized, but his cred on Capitol Hill has to take a blow.

    Or not.

There are still a couple days for President's Hannity, Coulter and Limbaugh to veto any deal.

Trump is already claiming that this funding will finish the wall....

Not sure how any of his diehards really believe that, but if they do, that's fine with me.

So the new idea is to find the wall by taking away funds from California disaster relief and military construction.

    Great idea

    President Hannity doesn't like it.

I wonder if Mitch has the stones to override a veto (spoiler: he does not).

They should explicitly take it away from blacks and women. The GOP needs to stop being so subtle -- there are still a few racists and misogynists out there who are on the fence.

There's like zero functional difference between the two these days other than maybe wanting weed to be legal in more places and not being an evangelical.

Between Republicans and Libertarians? Well, there's a difference but they're both insane money laundering cults. One just has a lot more money than the other.

The difference is Libertarians want to end government to establish a dictatorship of the rich while Republicans want to use government to establish a dictatorship of the rich.

Basically what I meant. A "libertarian" is basically a Republican who doesn't have the balls to come out and own it.

On what fu**ing jobsite has structural steel ever arrived pre-painted? Prime coated, yes. Painted? Not so much. And even when it is pre-painted (likely Bridge Girders), structural joints still need to be free of paint at the weld points until after connection is finalized. Then it can be touched up and painted.

In fact, COR-TEN brand steel is designed to *have* a layer of rust as a coating, which is naturally used to protect the steel from rusting through.

And one coat of paint doesn't protect the steel for life. Needs to be regularly maintained (ie: PAINTED).

For fu**s sake. Some "builder" Trump is.

As a lapsed libertarian I have to take issue with this. They are not at all the same thing -- they are not even a difference of quantity along the same spectrum.

Libertarians and Republicans are both wrong but in very different ways.

Libertarians believe the universe would be great if the government would just get out of the way of The Randian Übermensch Businessman. They believe in freedom but define freedom as the ability not to be kept from doing anything by another person. To be kept from doing things by circumstance is fine. Therefore, the indigent who never has any opportunity to learn to read or fill his belly because he is born into poverty is Gloriously Free.

Now, the way I put this makes it sound inane. It is. But it is a different kind of inanity than Republicans.

Republicans believe that the universe is a place teeming with danger, and we must all group tightly together in tribes to protect ourselves. The danger outside the tribe is The Other. Therefore, other races or religions and especially other worldviews must at all costs be kept from mixing with the tribe, since this will introduce impurities that weaken Our Strength. Within the tribe, wrong thinking must be rooted out because it leads to dissension and will offend The Traditions, which are man's dimly understood image of The Word which emanates from God Himself. Life is a war of tribe against tribe, so all calls for tolerance and unity are at best naive and more likely feints or ambushes. Republicans believe in the righteous power of the lord, instantiated in institutions and in particular in religion and wealth. They stand athwart all change hollering STOP, because the status quo -- the survivor of the Darwinian struggle of history -- is by definition Leibniz' best of all possible worlds.

These are very different mistaken philosophies and indicate separate mental disorders. We should not conflate them because the indicated treatment is very different in each case.

Libertarians can learn. I am proof of that. Libertarianism is a disease of ignorance. The cure is life experience: mostly it is just to meet women and have responsibility for children and watch how the perfect Laissez Faire universe of Bastiat is in real life merely a cruel perpetrator and amplifier of wealth and poverty.

Republicans cannot learn. Republican philosophy, which is to say Reaction in its early stages and Fascism in its inevitable culmination -- is a disease of stupidity. There is no cure for stupid. The only way to deal with reactionaries is to keep them away from sharp objects or any form of power, partly for their own protection but mostly to protect innocent bystanders. Happily they tend to self-segregate and this behavior should be encouraged. Then a humane policy of containment should be pursued, with an occasional sweep through the population for the rare mutant intelligent offspring.

Your definition of libertarian may be factual, as an academic and theoretical exercise.

In the real world, in actual practice, ill stick with mine.
