No one is advocating for taxing 90% of all income. The make $400k keep $40k scenario is not what anyone is saying. mookie had to put a stop to that since it doesn't included fica. this gets them over 10% and obviously the toppers stop 'contributing' at 128'ish K so their rate could legitimately not move.... immediately another topical point was approached
need to included usage taxes too that flow into general ledger. gas tax for one. lot of funds get dumped into that bucket to spend. would guess housing costs move poor workers farther from the city and increase their fair share of taxes paid to fill up ol' betsy.
someone lays this all out, and 70 or 90% may seem to low
