See I disagree with this, at least somewhat.

As a freshman representative, she will naturally struggle to get a lot of legislation pushed through. That holds true for everyone. Legislating is about building relationships. You look at the best (and by that, I mean most effective in getting positive legislation passed) senators and representatives and they are generally not the people out there lobbing grenades at the president or other members of congress. That's not to say that they can't ask hard questions and demand answers.

But if your method is to try to embarrass other members of congress or call them names or whatever, it's pretty hard to then walk into their office and ask for their support on a bill you really want to push through. If that's going to be your approach, then your approach depends entirely upon your party being in power, and that won't always be the case.

It's the called lame duck session for a reason, what the **** are you talking about? Lol.

If the dems regain power she's mostly there to push the dem party further left and reflect its constituency who want more progressive legislation and their basic needs met. It's going to take a while because the rot is pretty deep even within her own party. Asking her to pass legislation right now is like asking Motzko to win the national championship this year.

The kids are kids, which basically means that they’re good for a few meaningless and futile gestures, but not much else. They’re like a new puppy. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the 2020 presidential race was between Trump and Ocasio-Cortez, 43% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for Trump, while 40% would vote for Ocasio-Cortez. A sizable 17% are undecided.

With poll uncertainty, that's a push...to say nothing about Rasmussen's documented R bias.

No, I don't think he's been particularly effective. Usually if you have a majority in your house of Congress, and the other house and the presidency are held by the same party as yours, you have an opportunity to pass a lot of legislation, and he certainly hasn't done that.

the SOTU address is just one of those things that annoy me. The fawning, repeated applause by the congressional representatives from the same party as the president. The whole "who didn't clap and what does their body language tell us" analysis that goes on in the tv talk shows for days after. I probably haven't watched one in its entirety for 20 years.

Fully agree. Kill it with disinterest. There hasn't been a SOTU in the TV era that had any substance. It's the Grammys for ugly people.

I'll bet the majority of the people that vote in these sorts of polls probably don't know she doesn't even Constitutionally qualify to become POTUS in 2020, so I'm going to take those results with a big grain of salt.

C-SPAN's communications director, Howard Mortman, shared the results on his Twitter feed Thursday afternoon, one day after Ocasio-Cortez gave her first House floor speech.

"In just over 12 hours C-SPAN tweet of @RepAOC floor remarks last nite have become most-viewed twitter video by @cspan of any remarks by a member of House either party, 1.16 million" Mortman wrote.
