Amazon career day is coming up for anybody who's interested. The good news is that they're hiring 30,000 people. The bad news is you need to be in DC, Seattle, Boston, Nashville, Dallas or Chicago because its only happening in 6 cities.

They only need to the first 3. I get that NYC is being punished.

You could run the entire IT sector of this country from New York (for the banks), DC (for the pot of gold), Cambridge, and San Fran. No other city is needed.

Need the Midwest if they plan on expanding their own shipping capabilities. There’s a reason why UPS is in Louisville and FedEx is in Memphis.

                  I wondered about Nashville.

BTW, insofar as we still have a rail industry in this country, what is the most important rail city? Chicago?

No idea on rail but I’d WAG at Chicago.

Anchorage is weirdly important to air cargo though.

For ground transport, Chicago is still king. Basically on roads or rail, everything in funneled through Chicago as it moves East or West.

I can see that as a US/Asia route.

It is. We’re a major refueling point for flights to/from Asia. That’s why my job exists.

Also requires a desire to work for a modern sweatshop. Thankfully, I'm not desperate.

The warehouse jobs are horrible, or so I’ve heard. The tech jobs are no different than google, Microsoft, Apple, etc. I know a few people that work for AWS and are happy. They also make a **** load of money.

So, lots of Type A "tech bro" d1ckheads trying to stab each other in the back. Again, no thanks. I work with plenty of them as it is.
