Midd is very young, played a strong 1st against Adrian and lost it from there. Time will tell.

      6) Hamline
      7) Middlebury
      8) St Thomas
      9) GAC
      10) Eau Claire

My initial gut instinct was to move Midd up but they did only tie Elmira and then lost by 3 goals to Adrian. Seems more like a down performance than up.
The loss to Adrian was closer than the score. The 4th was an ENG.

        Based on two solid wins against highly ranked teams (Norwich 2-0 and Elmira 4-1). Platts gets the votes;

        1) Plattsburgh
        2) Adrian
        3) Elmira
        4) Norwich
        5) River Falls

              USCHO Poll is up

              Rnk Team
              1 Adrian (11) [5]
              2 Plattsburgh (4) [2]
              3 Elmira [1]
              4 Norwich [3]
              5 Middlebury [4]
              6 Wisconsin-River Falls [7]
              7 Hamline [5]
              8 St. Thomas [8]
              9 Gustavus Adolphus [9]
              10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire [10]

I don't get how Hamline falls two spots in both polls by being inactive...River Falls only action since the last poll was a win over an 0-6-1 St. Olaf squad.

Okay, so 3 out of 4 in the top 4. Midd is 5th in the USCHO
                poll.

Okay, which of the top 5 do you keep out?

I drop Middlebury. 2-1-1 vs Hamline's 5-1-0. Let Midd earn their way back up.

I am not a fan of Midd or NESCAC but they did tie number 3 (1 at the time) and won the shootout. Hamline does have a couple nice wins in the west, but not sure they would compete week after week in the east against Norwich, Plattsburgh, Elmira, and Middlebury.

It's a shame we don't have more inter-region play prior to the NCAAs to better see how they hold up, but Hamline does have the SOS edge over Midd on the KRACH rankings right now. They also are higher in the Scoring Offense section of the national stats.

The offense is higher because of most of the competition. SOS in KRACH is sometimes a little skewed.Remember the NESCACs just started two weeks ago. Let's see where we are after the break.

Yes, the polls are meaningless at this time. Revisit them in mid January.

To be honest the USCHO and d3hockey.com national polls are ALWAYS meaningless when it really comes down to it.

I'm fairly certain Gustavus has been up there in the past. Maybe even Stevens Point way back when. But definitely not recently.

It's crazy looking back. In 12-13 Gustavus went 24-0-1 regular season, but Plattsburgh was 23-0-2. I'm assuming Plattsburgh was number 1 all year, over the undefeated Gustavus team. GACs tie came late Feb agains UWS. Platty tied Norwich early on and Utica about the same time GAC tied.
