Big Ten teams are currently 4-1-1 vs. the vastly overrated NCHC this year.
National championships won by Big Ten schools : 23 (Michigan 9, Wisconsin 6, Minnesota 5, Michigan State 3, Ohio State 0, Penn State 0, Notre Dame 0)
National championships won by NCHC schools : 21 (North Dakota 8, Denver 8, MN-Duluth 3, Colorado College 2, St. Cloud State 0, Miami 0, NE-Omaha 0, Western Michigan 0)

This could be the B1G's year to be better. About time, given the resources they have.
But more good hockey is a good thing. OSU has been around a while, but PSU is coming on. If the improvement continues, maybe Dave K/speed kills will feel better about himself, so everyone wins.
Hands down, the Big Ten is far and away THE best conference in college hockey bar none. Given the budgets of the athletic departments at Big Ten schools compared to the budgets of the athletic departments at other schools, better get used to it. This is how it is going to be year-in and year-out from now on for all of eternity.

I just hope we don't have to continue to wait "for all of eternity" to see a B1G team win a national championship.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Well, the teams that make up that conference already own more combined national championships than the combined totals of any other conference. Moving forward, expect at least one out of every three on average to be won by Big Ten teams.

And yet...the vaunted B1G doesn't have one since 2007...weird.

If you think an out of character decade-long drought means they won’t soon return to winning national championships on a regular basis, you’re in for a rude awakening.

Pretty sure this post, made on January 3, 2016, when UNO was 14-3-1 and #2 in the pairwise, will go down in USCHO lore as The Curse of Tipsy McStagger.

We brave the cold for tailgates, our friends know not to ask about the game after a tough loss, we laugh, we cry, we BLEED hockey, specifically the maroon'n'gold. Many of us have a tattoo waiting in the wings, WHEN (not IF) the Gophers are champions again.

Even weirder that the B1G hockey conference didn't even exist in 2007. I'm not trying to be critical but it's really reaching if you are going back to when teams were in their old conferences to justify a point about the Big Ten.
