The same holds true for Griffey, who someone else mentioned. Would I put Griffey, Jr. in the HOF? Absolutely. Can I see a voter somewhere arguing that he rarely if ever got his team to the post-season and when he did, he had mixed results? Sure. Do I think Ken Griffey, Jr. was the greatest to ever play at his position? No.

Babe Ruth deserves to be in the HOF. I do not believe he was the best position player of all time. I’m not even sure he was the best player on his team.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Heard a stat on a morning show today: more people have walked on the moon than have scored an earned post-season run against Rivera. That's just insane.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

            Yep.

Twelve men walked on the moon. Eleven scored earned runs in the postseason against Rivera.

Fify. Haven't heard that expression in years.

That was from the man that espoused:
"God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and
then made Adam and Eve," Everett said last Friday, before the Red
Sox lost two of three in Atlanta. "The Bible never says anything
about dinosaurs. You can't say there were dinosaurs when you
never saw them. Someone actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever
                    saw a Tyrannosaurus rex."

                    What about dinosaur bones?

                    "Made by man," he says.

Big deal. Only three people have scored World Series-winning runs for the Cubs. And Rivera ain't one of 'em.

Mariano had 141 IP in the post-season and 36.1 in the WS, with an ERA of 0.70 and 0.99 respectively in each. And he was a career 0.984 fielder. iirc he has the highest all-time WAR for a reliever and is 77th overall for P. As a reliever. 1st in saves while 4th in appearances. btw the Yankees first signed him as an amateur free agent.
