You can actually make that conclusion form a very atypical 20 minutes? In the 1960 world series (baseball if you did not know) the Yankees outscored the Pirates by 54-27 and in three wins absolutely blew them out. Yet the pirates won the series on a famous late home run. So using your logic, it does not pay to outscore a team by a big margin and offensive power doesn't mean all that much. Dude, simple rule, when you control the puck you have more chances to score and the opponent does not. It does not guarantee a win as we are seeing so far since penalties have entered the picture big time tonight so far. But to say puck control is not important is ludicrous. It is not the end all and it is certainly not a guarantee but teams that control the puck for most of the game usually win.
Puck control may be important, as is taking shots, but not so important that it determines how games are going to go. I've seen enough odd man rushes and opposite shot disparagements, especially in our games within the past decade, that it's safe to throw it out the window when trying to determine how a game is going to go. A hot goalie is the most obvious, and that's going to happen. Along with penalties. There are just way too many different facets to say that one metric is a determinator.
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
