Not old enough to remember, what were the reasons Standbrook left???
I believe he left to take a HC job at a pro club in Italy. After one year there he returned to the NCAA under Shawn Walsh at Maine and helped build them into the Superpower they were in the early '90's.

I recall a story that Sauer was not happy that Standbrook would take off to parts unknown Canada and not tell anyone all the details of the where/when then come back with a list of kids he wanted at UW.
He was magic, that’s for sure.
Everything in its right place, Wisconsin Hockey National Champs!

Nice to see that the biggest hockey rivalry in the B10 isn't good enough to make it onto the B10 network. At least we were bumped by wrestling and another game (MI v Penn st) instead of women's BB and a replay of 1988 MI v. Ohio St football.

Fing joke.
Sounds like they broke up the Fr. line, Achan was practicing with Baker and S Doughie.

Just stick Lebedeff in net and ride it out. Berry, per Perrin's comments last week, has too many flaws, though he plays with a big heart.

That has to be a defensive top line correct? Third line looks fun. Any my guy Zirbel on the fourth line. At least he will come out and play hard and with energy!
Can you expand on that? Are you saying he's not one of the jaded journalists? He's more of a run of the mill? Honest question, I just started listening to his recaps about a month ago.
I just haven't read any articles from him discussing why the Badgers haven't turned the corner yet under Granato. Maybe he has written them and I just missed them... but I dont think so. I'm not saying he's a bad reporter or anything I'd just like to know what Granato thinks is the real problem... or what someone close to the program thinks is the problem. He's the hockey reporter who's close to the program so he should know some stuff.

Wouldn't every game recap after a bad game be exactly that? Badgers have been doing X, Y, and Z and haven't been doing A, B, and C well enough in [such and such losses].
There probably isn't some magic hidden hex that needs to be reversed for the team to find success. It most likely boils down to outscoring opponents reliably, and that's covered week in and week out when they win and lose.
Be careful what you wish for. If reporters convince themselves that there MUST be a more intriguing and hidden factor that explains disappointing results, you end up with an arrogant and bad beat reporter who makes false claims about hot dog consumption, and then he gets mocked for years. (And unlike the Leafs, we don't have a deep list of beat writers should one succumb to lunacy.)

Todd is a great reporter and asset to UW Hockey and the fans. We were without someone like him for a while and coverage stunk. He will respond to reasonable questions you have and does try to track down things he doesn't know with UW.
