    Re: College Hockey Imperialism

    This week's map: https://i.imgur.com/HKGxdfY.png

-Bowling Green defeats Western Michigan 4-1 on Tuesday to complete their sweep and take over their territory. Over the weekend, they annihilate Ohio State on Friday, and ties them on Saturday. Their territory now extends to the other side of Lake Michigan.
-Northern Michigan splits the series with Bemidji State, but wins the overall goal differential 4-2 to take over Bemidji's territory.
-Minnesota-Duluth sweeps Notre Dame in a rematch of the title game. Much like the title game, UMD ends up with a lot more land than they started with.
-Quinnipiac sweeps AIC to take over their one county in Western New York.
-RPI sweeps Union to take over all of their land.
-St. Cloud destroys BC on Thursday, but loses 3-2 to Northeastern on Saturday. Northeastern also defeats UMass Lowell 4-1 on Friday. As a result, Northeastern gains some territory in New England and Minnesota.
-Robert Morris splits with RIT, but wins the goal differential 4-2, taking over their almost-connected patches of land.
-Penn State defeats Princeton 4-2 on Friday, expanding their territory eastward towards Delaware and New Jersey.
-North Dakota defeats Minnesota 3-1 in Las Vegas, gaining back some land.
-Yale defeats Brown 3-2 on Friday to take over most of Rhode Island.
-Michigan State sweeps Cornell to take all of their land.
-Harvard gets SO CLOSE to defeating Dartmouth and finally getting some territory (which they have NEVER had in the year-plus that this has been run), but they blow a 4-2 lead and lose 7-6 in overtime.

      Re: College Hockey Imperialism

The only downside to the hockey map over football, and I guess it depends on your prospective of how it should work, is that it's almost certain that the champion at the end of the year will have all the land.

The fun of the football one is that a team like Pitt can pull off a major upset in the final week, not go to a bowl, and take half the map despite having a losing record.

In hockey, there are only five teams that can end their season with a win without being national champs, and since that likely means they’re awful versus just mediocre like Pitt, it’s much less likely to pull off an upset against a team with a lot of land and hold it to the end of the year.

Nice to see MSU expand east after the weekend’s performance, though.

Okay. NMU split with BGSU this weekend, losing 3-1 on Friday and winning 2-0 tonight. How does that work?

We actually got rid of that as we couldn't figure out how to split it. So we're just going to go with "steady state" with both teams retaining their current land.

              This week's map: https://i.imgur.com/uY3sMN8.png

              Storylines:

-Cornell defeats both Yale and Brown on consecutive days to take over Yale's old territory.
-Clarkson defeats RPI on Friday to consolidate their land in the midwest, but loses to Union on Saturday, who regains its old territory and more.
-Princeton defeats Dartmouth 7-1 on Friday to take Dartmouth's land in New Hampshire. Princeton then ties with Harvard 4-4 on Saturday to keep its new territory.
-Quinnipiac defeats Harvard 5-3 on Friday to keep their land (and also preventing Harvard from once again gaining land), but loses 5-1 to Dartmouth on Saturday, giving Dartmouth different territory from what they originally had.
-North Dakota sweeps Wisconsin, taking over their land.
-BU ties Northeastern on Thursday, and then defeats them 4-1 for their first win of the season on Saturday to take over their territory.
-St. Cloud sweeps Colorado College, taking over their chunk of the Southwest in addition to parts of Alaska and Hawaii.
-Air Force sweeps Army, taking control of their one county in Massachusetts.
-Ferris State splits with Michigan State, but wins the goal differential 7-6 to take some land back in Michigan.

Love the idea but think you should have used an equal pop district map:

Start with each team occupying only its home district. With each win expand one (except or home), with each loss contract one.

Even better, just use a single TEAM cell map like this and allow teams to overwrite each other. A home can only disappear when defeated by a direct cell neighbor.

That's, uhh, not now this works.

Cornell wins NMU's current territory: North Dakota, Northwest Minnesota, and Northeast Montana. (Thanks to NMU previously beating Bemidji in total goals, and Bemidji beating North Dakota before that). NMU already ceded their starting territory by losing in total goals to Michigan State.

Thanks to Michigan Tech's sweep of Ferris, MQT county is now Husky territory. *vomit*

Also, if I'm seeing this right (prior to this past weekend), are Mankato, Denver, Lake State, and Penn State the only schools to not lose their home territory?
