It was bit of a subdued win for me as I watched from the balcony with my grown sons and all the NU students. Make no mistake I have hated BC since we brawled and were escorted as freshman from the Roberts Center in the Fall of 1984. That said I never want to see anyone get hurt, prayers to the BC player for a speedy recovery and on the bright side he was a black away from the best hospital in the world the same one that saved my life 6 months ago. Nice job Huskies! This was supposed to be a re-building year sending your most prolific scorers and the Hobey Baker winner to the NHL last year and you sent the franchise record for wins with 27. Lets set our sights on Buffalo and see what happens because one thing is certain our goalie is the best I have seen since Quick and Howard, and while we may not have PK on a wing, we have a really great group of young men that are unselfish and working hard to show us there is no I in the word team. Great season so far!

This team has one of the best characteristics a team can have...they find a way. So many one goal wins this year. They're not as flashy or high-powered as last year's squad but they just get it done when it matters most.. They play for one another and when the ice gets tilted a bit they rely on 31 and he comes through in the biggest moments. We will be a tough out no matter who we play next weekend.

I said after the Beanpot and I'll say it again...thank you Jim. I've never been more happy to be 100% wrong.

While i do not believe this is the greatest NU team of all time, this is easily the greatest testament to the Madigan coaching regime ever. Incredible season and job by the players and staff considering what they lost and what theyve accomplished. First double championship year since 1988, and coming as a three seed to win Hockey East.

Primeau is a superstar, Davies is a superstar, but beyond them, think about who contributed to get us here. Madden, Hawkins, Filipe, Solow in the playoffs. Schule, Griffin, Plevy in the Beanpot. This team doesnt rely on one or two players to score and advance and win. Every player can contribute and thats what makes them great. Tonight they came out hot and held off BC when it matters. Old NU breaks and loses the game. New NU holds and claims the trophy.

They deserve to be here. The Big Four and the Old Guard is dead. The Huskies have commanded their spot at the table of Hockey East Elite. Congrats to Jim, his staff, his players. What an accomplishment.

First double championship since 1988 when Jim Madigan was a young AC. Absolutely top-drawer coaching job considering what was lost to the pro ranks after last year. If Jim is not at least in the conversation for the Spencer Penrose Award as national COY, somebody is not paying attention.

But the season is not over. Hopefully they get a favorable draw within driving distance for much of Husky Nation.

And OBTW, kudos to the NU Band.

I don't believe he was even in the top 3 or 4 for the Hockey East one. Bazin Leaman and Carvel were the finalists. I believe you need to either win your conference award or make the Frozen Four to be Penrose eligible.

Correct. (I'd forgotten about the narrow selection criteria.)

Lol, we actually begged for Cronin to come back at one point. Oh man that sounds so funny now.

Not much else to say. What was supposed to be a rebuild is one NCAA win away from the most successful season ever. The 1982 team only had to win one game to reach the Frozen Four.

What year did Keefe arrive? It might not exactly tie out to when Madigan started to get it turned around but has a similar feel to how Paul Pearl helped Ted Donato save his job and ultimately get Harvard going.

They arrived together in 2011. Jason Smith, our second assistant, was promoted in 2014 (i think) when our former assistant suddenly retired in late summer.
