Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

      America's finest.

Authorities in Los Angeles say a sheriff's deputy who claimed he had been shot by a sniper actually cut two fake bullet holes in his uniform with a knife and made the whole thing up.

No, it wouldn't. We had video of Eric Garner being choked to death for no reason and nothing ever came of it. We had video of Daniel Shaver being executed, for not following contradictory commands that made no sense, by the cop who engraved, "you're ****ed", into his weapon. You're objectively wrong.

Video is necessary for holding cops accountable but it isn't sufficient.

            Other things that must happen:

+ Start taking criminal defense seriously. Guarantee effective and fully funded counsel.

+ Force police, DAs and judges to commit to finding the truth not getting a conviction

+ Stop hiring racist low lives as cops. Purge police of their small d-cked military wanna bes.

+ Remove military hardware from police.

+ Practice de-escalation. Punish cops who make the situation worse.

+ Remove the protection of cops and departments from being sued. They are servants, not masters.

+ Get the cops out of social monitoring. They should be a response team to a specific criminal situation with carefully calibrated capability.

+ Stop sending guns into unarmed situations. The cops should assume the risk, not innocent bystanders.

In short, start treating the poor like the rich in police and judicial interactions. The citizen should have the benefit of the doubt. Armed cops should be a small, carefully trained force and they should be closely guarded against infiltration by gung ho as-swipes.

We also need stiffer penalties for body cams conveniently shut off at the moment of incident.

That should be immediate suspension without pay while the technical situation is reviewed and termination unless a specific technical problem is discovered by a review team outside of and independent of the police.

It's better than nothing but not by much. Now we just have cops on video terrorizing their communities with impunity. Making it mandatory to keep them on and penalizing them for turning it off or whatever isn't going to move the needle all that much and we've already seen that.

This will change as whites become a smaller majority and finally only a plurality.

The cultural default to violent racism by the white working class in general and cops in particular is dying off. You can see how threatened the remaining racists are by the desperate machinations of groups like the NRA and GOP who rely on the assumption it would last forever.

It will get worse before it gets better because these people are the worst, but 20 years from now society will broadly regard anybody who supported these yahoos as the moral equivalent of slaveholders.

The cop wasn't fired at all. Nope. Still on the force. He's patrolling right now.

I agree. But, my response was in your claim that "nothing happened." Quite the contrary.

Compared to what should’ve happened that’s basically nothing.

There's the difference. It's something, which is not nothing. Taking descriptions to the extreme is a dangerous habit, which is flourishing in this country.

That’s not extreme at all lmfao, he should be in jail and getting fired from your job when you can literally just go get another one at some racist PD or another line of work is hardly a punishment compared to say a manslaughter conviction or worse. If your argument is that technically getting fired from your job “isn’t nothing” then sure, technically that’s correct.
