How can they be, with the highest paid QB in the history of the NFL?
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

You have to have an offensive line to play in that league.

You also need a coordinator that calls plays that play to the team's strengths, not its weaknesses.

I especially like their insistence on handing the ball off 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage on 3rd or 4th and 1.

@Sportsnet: The Vikings have reportedly fired offensive coordinator John DeFilippo.

Not sure how I feel about this. I haven't been impressed by the play calling, but this seems pretty desperate. Also, I'm 100% certain it won't make a lick of difference.

There sure have been a large number of OCs since Zimmer took the HC job.

Not to mention, an OC can’t turn bad offensive lineman into good players immediately.

Their OL graded out measurably higher last year than they have so far this season. You can't fake talent but you can improve schemes, technique and teamwork.

This year's schedule has been murder's row, even including a Bears team that is nothing like what it was last year. Buffalo cannot be explained away, and you have to beat the best to be the best and all that. But it HAS been a tough schedule, and that deserves consideration when comparing this year's performance to last.

The loss of Sparano right before the season probably has a lot to do with that.

I know that Vegas took that into account. You had a team that won what, 13 games in the regular season last year, went to the NFC Championship game, then signed what many considered to be the top free agent QB out there, yet Vegas had them at maybe 10.5 wins for the season, iirc? I think a lot of fans understood that too.

But they have significantly underperformed. I think Keenum was a little more mobile and that masked some problems with pass protection last year.

If I were an NFL general manager, and certainly no one would ever entrust that job to me, every single first round pick I made, and a sizable number of second round picks I made, would be either offensive or defensive linemen. It continues to be a game of controlling the line of scrimmage, and I don't think that will ever change.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Call Dan Snyder. He will be looking for a GM soon.

The Vikings spend their top picks on skill players every year. I agree with you.
