At this point I'm just hoping that the album is not a complete disaster.
AC/DC stopped once they tried to continue with Asshole Rose. Sorry, that came across as a bit petty, but my point stands.

    Not a fan of Axl/DC?

I'm just amazed that he 1) actually did his job without a crapton of drama and 2) didn't sound like the Cookie Monster like he has in years past.

I will grudgingly give him those two points. While grinding my teeth.

Livestreaming of Nights 1 and 2 for Pearl Jam at Safeco has been amazing! Cannot wait to see them at Fenway in September (not so much looking forward to the Fenway part, but the shows... ). Kind of wish we had just committed to doing the cross-country road trip (they're playing 7 US dates this year - 2 Seattle; 1 Missoula, MT; 2 Wrigley; 2 Fenway) and I tried to convince the hubs that we should just go to all the shows. Naturally, one of us has to be responsible and we're just doing Fenway, but man...it would be awesome.

The relevance of AC/DC ended somewhere in the late 80s, but I think we can all agree that Axl doing the job was a joke.

Razor's Edge was the last semi-decent album. A decent song or two afterwards (pains me to admit that shortcoming), and that's it.

I saw AC/DC live around 2009 for the last time. It was seriously one of the best concerts I've ever been to and I've been to a lot of effing concerts.

The last one I went to was the one after the Ballbreaker tour, at the X. Awesome show. They do not disappoint.

I wanted her. Oh well, I'll go with Norah, Hope, or Beth Gibbons.

Speaking of awesome lady rockers -- The Breeders are on tour. They're coming to New England in October...I'm debating getting tickets. I wasn't ever a HUGE fan, but I like what I've heard.

Maybe you can help. I've been tasked with bringing music to Out On the Lakeshore, an LGBT resource center. So far, we like Norah Jones and Sara Bareilles. I was hoping Mazzy Star and Thievery Corporation would work, but my tastes clash with the center coordinator.

We're looking for "upbeat and calming," if that helps.

Another thing I could do, and I'm kicking myself for not seeing it earlier... Cloud Cult! I've got "Feel Good Ghosts" going right now.

Re: USCHO Music Thread: Less Talk, More Rock

Just discovered that James Gray, who played keyboards for one of my favorite bands, Blue Rodeo, passed away as a result of a heart attack way back in 2013. Never knew.

Anyway, he was part of the band during their most artistically successful, experimental, and creative period, which I don't think is a coincidence. While not credited as a songwriter, I think he brought a lot to the band in terms of coming up with parts, arrangements, and different musical approaches that added to and made the songs better. One example is the opening piano piece he contributed to Flaming Bed, the last song on my favorite album of theirs, Nowhere To Here.

They haven't been as good a band since he left.
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?
