It's been pretty fun chatting with people going "Oh yeah, I totally remember that" and trying to find video. I think we all know what's going to be #1 next week, though...

New recruit - Jake Livingstone out of the BCHL. 1999 BY defenseman, 8th in the league in scoring. Big kid, with big offensive upside.

As far as the Cup goes, more highlight videos have gone up on my twitter. Only two left. Again, not a ranking, but number one might actually be number one...

Also a 1-on-1 interview with coach Largen going up soon, and some interviews with the seniors tomorrow.

Great response tonight after the shellacking on Friday. We may be back at Bowling Green in a few weeks, hoping the outcome in the playoffs is more like what we saw tonight.

Boy that 2nd period was ugly any way it's looked at.
Stay out of the box and it got closer.
    Or did it?
The way we played last night I guess I shouldn't maybe comment on your game.

Another great bounce back after a bad showing on Friday. Second year in a row with a home shutout of Mankato, though a little more nerve racking than last years 5-0 win. Nice to see how the team looks when they play disciplined and stay out of the box. Exciting and tense game tonight, with a little more extra curricular activity at the end thanks to the game clock messed up. Hoping we can continue this type of play into anchorage next week! Thank you seniors! Go Nanooks!

I was all set for a playoff series at BG, thinking we had some success against the Falcons this year, including in their barn.

Then lo and behold we have to go to the black hole instead. At least we arenít going back to Mankato.

Avoiding MSU and heading to NMU is somewhat like out of the frying pan and into the fire. From the recent games Iíve watched, theyíre quick on their skates, with their sticks, and in their decision making. They turn up the ice quickly, make crisp quick passes and have skill players. They attempted more one-timers in the last game I watched then we have attempted all season. They give you no time to react.

I hope we play with a sense of urgency like we did against MSU Saturday night, and not how we looked against UAA. Weíll have to be a half second quicker with all passes and with all shot attempts. We need to get pucks low on net asap and work for rebounds. You wonít often beat Tolvanen with the first shot, so keep pucks low and crash the net. And no stupid unnecessary penalties.

    Go Nooks!
    "Who got the Cup?"
UAF UAA UAA UAA UAF UAF UAA UAA UAF UAF UAF UAF UAF UAA UAA UAA UAF* UAF* UAF* UAF UAF UAF UAF UAF UAF

    * lost to NCAA mucky-mucks but not to UAA on the ice.

Anton received the NCAA third star of the week for his performance against UAA.

    Awesome!

Already had other travel plans. If we get past NMU, the trip home will be diverted.

National Third star but not conference goalie of the week? Tolvanen did have more saves Friday than Martinsson had all weekend, but still Marty was sharp both nights with better numbers. Only the weird deflection off Renwick got by him.

Interestingly, the same thing happened a few weeks ago when Jurusik shut out UAA both nights and got the national honor but not the WCHA nod. Maybe the conference discounts good goalie numbers against UAA

You mean when UAA played in Fairbanks? Ummm - UAA beat UAF 4-1 on Friday. They didn't get shut out on Saturday either, so not sure what you are referring to. Of the 4 games between the two schools, UAF only shut out UAA once.

    From ADN:

"According to NCAA, the (UAF) hockey team used ineligible players in every game played from the 2007-08 season to the 2010-11 season. Over that span, the wins and ties will all become losses. 4 wins and 2 ties came against rival UAA".

    UAF is 56-86-12 vs. UAA.

Referring to when Techís Jurusik shut out UAA twice (end of Jan or early Feb, maybe, Sat. Game went to a shootout) got national goaltender of the week, and didnít get the WCHA honor

Oh yeah, sorry I misread your post. Who knows what these guys are thinking? It's not always fair, I agree!

Thank you Nanooks. With all the uncertainty, every year feels like it could possibly be our last and this team and staff work hard to produce amazing young men no matter the problems they face. Some of these guys will stay in town and some go on to new adventures and every year Iím just so thankful for this program. Win or lose, I am so very proud of this team.

I do remain optimistic though for the future and I canít wait until next season!

    Re: Alaska Nanooks 2018-2019

Well...****. Two goal leads each night and couldnít hang on. Themís the breaks.

I do think this team was better than their record indicated, and definitely better than last yearís team. That 0-7-1 start was just a killer..win even a couple of those non-conference games and we are singing a bit different tune.

If you look at how the WCHA shook out this year, we had success against Mankato and BG, but once again couldnít get that Upper Peninsula monkey off our backs between Northern and Tech.

Having some stability in the coaching staff will be huge, assuming we can hang on to our assistants. Let the political chips fall where they may.

Well, itís public now so here it is...moving hockey to the Patty Center is officially under consideration, due mostly to the Dunleavy Debacle.
