Just to be clear. My disinterest in this team became of the Uni's disinterest. Without the success of the hockey team, the other teams would not be where they are. Way to pay back the hockey team. **** UAA.

I like our chances anytime we score 13 goals in one game. Sadly I donít think that will happen nearly as often once the regular season starts.

Congrats, it was against a scrub BCIHL team. DII and maybe DIII material.

On the plus side, if the GNAC ever sponsors hockey SFU will have a leg up.

USCHO mixed us up with UAA in their WCHA preview. Canít wait to see the coverage for the rest of the season.

They also said Largen is the youngest coach in D1 but Carle from Denver is.

Article also has Ryker Leer with 20 points last year when he had 9. I guess it is just easier to say the recently named captains are the key returners rather than actually research.

Not how you want to start a season.

But, we rebounded nicely in the second and third periods. Just need to capitalize.

    Win today.

ASUs two quick goals after the Nooks killed the 5x3 put them back on their heels. Never got it going again in the 1st. They played OK in 2nd and 3rd. Overall, too many ďpasses without purpose.Ē Didnít put enough pucks on net. Young D looked tentative at times. Hope for a better showing/outcome today.

    Go Nooks

UAF made the kind of hockey history on October 10th 2015 that no team wants to claim Ė the Nanooks became the first NCAA Division I victim of Arizona State.

    Re: Alaska Nanooks 2018-2019

I took a look at where this yearís roster played juniors and came up with this list:

    NAHL: 10
    BCHL: 9
    AJHL: 5
    USHL: 3
    OJHL: 1

    A few observations...

    1. We arenít as reliant on the Alberta league as we have been in years past. Considering Parayko and Kunyk, among others, came out of there Iím not sure itís entirely a good thing, but I think it shows a bit of a shift now that we are two seasons removed from Dallas Ferguson, who heavily recruited Alberta.

    2. NAHL and BCHL are our bread and butter right now.

    3. We have a few players from the USHL. This is a good sign, IMO. A couple seasons ago we didnít carry any USHL guys on the roster. USHL has become the main pipeline for NCAA talent so its good to see even a few players come up from that part of the country.

I have kept track of this since the great realignment. We have increased our BCHL & NAHL count, but at the price of fewer USHL players. Not a good sign. Itís true that back in the day (eg 2007-08) we had almost zero USHL players, but we were doing much better until the last few years. Maybe that was a ďstrategicĒ move on our part.

I'm attempting to watch the Nanook / Huskies game tonight. This is the worst feed I have ever watched. Come on Fairbanks, is this the best you can do? Edit: the second period was much better. Looks like they found … and fixed the problem.

"According to NCAA, the (UAF) hockey team used ineligible players in every game played from the 2007-08 season to the 2010-11 season. Over that span, the wins and ties will all become losses. 4 wins and 2 ties came against rival UAA".

    UAF is 56-86-12 vs. UAA.

Important game last night. It wasnít about winning (although thatís every teamís goal and would have been nice), but more about being competitive against a quality team. SCSU controlled play for the most part, but we had our chances. They outshot us but except for pp opportunities, we limited their quality scoring chances. We hung around. Which is pretty good for this team against this completion.

Hope we are victorious tonight, but if not, at least competitive again. This year will definitely be a journey. Interesting to see that Arizona lost to #1 Ohio State 2-3. Takes a little of the sting out of last weekendís series in the desert.

Too bad attendance was so poor. I know there were a number of big things going on around town but too bad nonetheless. I hear the Ice Dogs 50/50 was over $40k.

    Hanging around.

Cool photo. As an ASU alum, it was very encouraging to see your result against SCS. Hope you get them tonight!
