Re: POTUS 45.31: "The Caravan is Coming.""The Caravan is Coming."
I don't mean to sound like I'm attacking you Brent, because as contrary voices go on this forum, you don't come across like most of the others, but this faithful service you pay to the notion of equivalency is really naïve. (I think the acronym you asked about starts out as Both Sides Are Bad So... not sure of the rest)
On the one hand I might agree that both sides ARE bad because most of our elected politicians, and especially most of them at the state and federal levels, are pond scum at best and some are actually pure evil. But the republicans today have taken it to levels unseen in our nations history. There are clearly some democrats who still will put nation ahead of party, and even if it is an ends justifying the means proposition, well the ends are still OK. I'm reminded of the Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon says wrong is wrong and there are no gradations of wrong. Stewart Bloom (comic book store owner) corrects him and says "its a little wrong to say a tomato is a vegetable, its VERY wrong to say it's a suspension bridge."
You also referred to the "current administration" when what I am talking about is not the executive branch, but our legislative one. And as I said, in 2018 it is undeniably clear which party is causing the most trouble and the most harm. I don't say this because I want it to be true, it IS true. And who knows, if we vote 50 or 75 more democrats into office and add a democratic president and another couple dozen more democratic legislators to the mix in 2020 maybe they will turn out to be just as corrupt and un-American as the current crop of republicans. I just know that RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW, there is no equivalency between the parties.
Democrats are saying and pushing policies and ideas that might help the middle class, the working class, or the poor. They are pushing ideas and policies that might make mass gun violence less likely. They are pushing policies and ideas that might slow climate change and buy us a few more years to figure out how to grow an economy, keep making people rich, but not destroy the environment in the process. And they are pushing ideas and policies that don't deny the humanity of any individual person. The republicans are pushing ideas of division, fear, hate and chaos. They are trotting out the same tax and economic policies that have at various times in the last 100 years brought the economy to crashing halts. And in the most extreme example, they are behaving in treasonous fashion by allowing a president to sully and tarnish whatever good name and reputation we had left in the world at the same time he is making this country weaker, he is harming the economy and he is beholden to a corrupt foreign entity that at best doesn't want America to prosper and be strong, and at worst means harm to come our way.
The equivalency you and other so often want to trot out there is so completely and utterly false. You and the rest of the people who believe in it in even the slightest manner need to wake up and realize what is going on.
