You had to kind of expect that Bob would rope in some of his verbal recruits. Larson has done the same thing to a couple of UMD recruits at St Cloud already too.
Joe Molenaar comes to mind. Previously verbally committed to UMD and signed with St Cloud last week.
De-commitments are not always bad and sometimes it is neither the coaches or the player's fault. Sometimes a player and the school decide that this isn’t the right fit and mutually decide to part ways on their prior commitment especially when a new coaching staff takes over. If a player is recruited by a former coach, the player may realize the new regime is personally not a good fit for various reasons, and would rather play for the coach who recruited him as is the case with Motzko and the recent SCSU decommits. At the end of the day, it is the best case scenario for all parties involved.
About 80 percent of the Gophers men’s hockey season tickets, under new coach Bob Motzko, have now been renewed with total sales of 4,644.
Is this gopher team expected to have much of a development curve this year? October is early for any team, but just wondering what the natives expect for the UND game in Vegas.
I thought a new coach would solve everything?
The last one was held onto way too long so the bleeding will continue a while.

GopherPuckLive has tracked season ticket scanning data since the move to the Big Ten with recaps in 2015, 2016, and 2017. The data shows the number of tickets distributed nears the capacity of 10,000 for most games, however actual attendance recently has been around 70 percent. Season ticket sales have declined since that first year in the Big Ten with 6,732 in 2015-16, 5,977 in 2016-17, and now 5,474 in 2017-18.
“The biggest thing that people are just not excited about right now, and it’s not a surprise to us, they’re not as excited about Big Ten Hockey as they were the WCHA,” said Senior Associate Athletics Director Tom McGinnis back in April. “They really enjoyed seeing some of those rivalries that had developed over the years with some of the WCHA opponents.
Season ticket holders told department officials they have wanted to see their Gophers play on Friday and Saturday nights, and continue seeing opponents they were familiar with from the WCHA.” - Eric Vegoe

Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.
Tastes like a warm summer day. -Raylan Givens
It wasn't just a revenue generator. It was a profit cow. Now, with the ticket mess and the huge travel costs, not even close.
