Gillbrand is a good candidate for Pres and probably short list for Veep. She doesn't have any glaring weaknesses and she's not guilty of any mortal sins that I can see to keep her from the nom. She's not ideal but who is? Welcome to the race; may the fittest survive.

We should not exaggerate other Democratic candidates' flaws when supporting our favorite. The press and the enemy do that just fine without us.

I'll take a Constitutional Amendment banning New Yorkers from running for President. Nothing good has come from it.

What she did to Franken was horseshiat. It was a political hit job in an attempt to bolster her own cred. I'll take Warren or Harris or Klobuchar over her any day of the week.

She doesn't seem to have been able to put the "shamelessly opportunistic" label behind her rightly or wrongly. Frankly I don't know a lot about her but I seem to recall she had a reputation as a bit of a moderate, safe pick from an update NY seat when she was appointed Senator. In fact I recall GOP Rep King declining to run for the Senate seat and saying that Gillenbrand doesn't inspire enough love or hate for him to be able to raise enough money off of to make it a competitive contest.

Politics is mean. The general election is really mean. I don't need a candidate who is Above It All, I need one who can get elected and who will govern pushing policies that will help get us out of the Milton Friedman Death Spiral of the last 37 years. That's the standard I am measuring all candidates against.

She's a Standard Pol. I don't know that she will garner much of a following in the nom process but if she does that means she's got something. We don't have to anticipate, we can let the campaigns play out.

Same with the scope of policy. If you think UBI is a non-starter that means candidates who campaign on it will not get traction for the nom, so the problem solves itself. We don't have to police our field and suppress "extreme" positions -- we can let the voters show us what they want rather than declaring what they want and limiting their choices. If Andrew Yang wins the Democratic nomination then, welp, that means we're ready for a UBI.

Democrats are always restraining themselves. This is another aspect of how we negotiate against ourselves. It's our job to show what is possible. It's the job of electorate to show what is impractical.

Brown needs to stay in the Senate. He's the last Dem who can hold that seat in Ohio.

If he's popular enough he might get us OH in the pres election.

We dont need Ohio. Keep him in the Senate. Flip back Pennsylvania, Michigan and Sconnie that is what is needed.

Brown's in a relatively unique position as his liberal bona fides can't be questioned, yet he's won over the dreaded working class stiffs in Ohio repeatedly to win re-election. All of the other candidates are either running from safe Dem states except for O'Rourke who unlike Brown lost his Senate race.

Agree about his Senate seat although I think that has more to do with the Dem state party in Ohio being a shi tshow on par with the FL state Dem party in terms of sheer incompetence.

Crap, that’s already a 25 man with a 26th called up for a doubleheader. We’re gonna have to expand this to 40 and send some down to AAA.

I don't think its quite that bad, eliminate the people who've said they aren't running plus the absurd ones:
