Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul
First, CONGRATULATIONS to the team and coaches for an outstanding performance throughout the year and at the Frozen Four. . They made believers of the college hockey world. And next year should see an even better finish.
UMass's 3 PP goals in 3 minutes were so disheartening to this fan. Wasn't sure we could comeback. I was ready to call timeout or change goalies, but the goals came so quickly didn't have time to do either.
UMass coach conceded DU outplayed them in the 2nd and 3rd period. Was surprised he made several comments about the refs. Didn't say they were bad, but certainly implied it. BTW isn't it almost pro forma tor the winning coach to begin comments on the hard fought battle/skilled performance by the opponent ? I didn't really like some of his comments/attitude.
I must say when UMass offense was swarming either on the PP or 5 on 5 they were frighteningly good. Just wish Makar could be playing for the Avs Saturday.
But you know the team showed so much grit, desire, resilience, can only look forward to next year
In 2016 Pios lost in the semis and then in 2017 took the Natty. 2019 loss in semis and then 2020........Hope it's a pattern.
Re: ALL THINGS DENVER XLI--Will Boone go to St.Paul
We will never know whether a major penalty for the hit to the head by UMass' trivigno on Durflnger would have changed the outcome of the game. The NCAA suspended Trivigno for the Championship game, but doesn't do DU any good now, bur it might make the team even more determined to get the Natty next year.
Interesting news on Larrson. Didn't see that one coming.
Nice for the kid to realize his dream and all that but this cradle robbing by the NHL IMO is killing college hockey. Hard to sustain enthusiasm and loyalty year after year when key players don't stick around long enough for the fan bases to figure out if the star-of-the-moment's last name is spelled with one S or two.

More on Larsson. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/n...on/3473602002/
Filip turns 21 in August. Detroit can get a 3 year contract at 20, but, as I recall, can put only a 2 year hold(ELC) if he is 21. He is being groomed to replace Jimmy Howard, Maine's goalie when DU won the Championship in 2004.
