Interesting. I guess my sources are dead wrong.

Germany has been pushed back to Feb/March 2019, so that I can spend a day or two skiing on a side jaunt into Austria or Slovenia.

Going to spend a few days each in BOS and SFO, October 12th or 13th through 20th or 21st. I've never done any of the history stuff in Boston, only eaten & worked there, and going in October I figure I might be able to squeeze in a Bruins game as well. While I've come close (flying to SJC for work), I've never been to Frisco.

1950 and only 1 smoker? I call BS. That lounge would've been like Los Angeles on an average smog day.

RT tickets in 2018 USD? I'll guess about $4,000/ea. Double that if you wanted the Mile High Club stateroom.

You're right. $4k in 2018 dollars is calculated to be about $389 in 1950. Definitely too low, even if we account for all the inputs being cheaper as well.

I just did a quick check, and an economy ticket from DTW to HNL, Sat-Sat next January, starts at about $900. Biz class is about $2100+.

I was thinking closer to $15k-$20k

It’s teally hard to assign though. Trips on that plane to Hawaii in that year were like trips on Virgin Galactic today.
