This was the 80s-90s. I can't speak for now.

I'm sure I'd hate it now that I am more laid back but at the time (my 20s) it was a really fun place to get around.

Plus, 80% of the cool places to go in Boston are not in Boston, they are in Cambridge or Sommerville or Arlington.
I have to drive my friends to the airport Monday. I will make sure to visit this thread when I get back (probably close to the next day) to go off on how crazy you are.

First time I ever went to Denver, I was amazed at the aggressiveness of the drivers. Then I realized Quizmire (retired poster, former BU student) was driving. Then I thought, "Well, sh*, I'm fine."

MN is not aggressive in driving. Most are just too passive and stupid (eg: Yield does not mean merge RIGHT NOW)

I don't travel abroad much, but I have driven in most major U.S. cities. From what I've seen, American drivers are relatively careful and like to follow rules. Inner city Istanbul is chaos and makes Manhattan look like driver's ed school. Drivers in Guyana are Kamikaze. A lot of posters here travel abroad a lot and would have a better perspective.

From what I've seen/heard from Slap Shot, Asian drivers are friggin' nuts. NYers would even be "*** DUDE? JESUS, THERE ARE LAWS YOU KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cairo drivers fill the road.... as in two lane highways become 3 wide or four wide when available.... and not just to fill and stop, but to drive the speed limit and over with inches between cars....and drive well with no bump drafting. They are the best drivers on earth.

Bangkok has thick traffic and the motorcycles weave through then collect en masse at the lights 100s deep and wait for the green. Amazingly enough they do this with riders hanging side saddle...mostly broads without helmets. Just amazing.

Kuwaitis are the worst drivers on earth and don’t care, cause all insurance is no fault and drivers who cause the wreck pay a 20kd fine ($66) at the police station and go forth. No rate increase.

All you need to remember when going to Logan is to leave 5 minutes early for every mile you have to drive.

Also since they finalized the finalization of the second revision of the tunnels nobody has any right to complain about going to Logan anymore, it's a breeze. In my day.... (shakes fist at urine-soaked blue line train).

I can't remember if it was you who said he watched this from his hotel balcony for 3 hours and did not see a single accident nor a time when the traffic halted.

It works. It can't possibly, but it does.

Meanwhile in the states a single brood sow in her suburban assault vehicle bounces through the mall parking lot like a luger. Give me the Nile, baby!

This is why, and I believe everybody understands the magnitude of my difficulty in giving them credit for anything, I have maintained for 30 years that Bostonians are the best drivers in the US. They follow the Even Cowgirls Get the Blues rule: everything is permissible as long as it does not interrupt the forward motion of the vehicle.

The worst drivers in the US are tourists visiting Boston. Don't do it. I don't care how much of a hot shot you were back home in Square County, Nebraska. You have barely left grammar school and this is a post-doc.

I’m driving 275 miles to Logan tomorrow. Your formula says I need to leave 22 hours early

I got in a German taxi once, driven by a Turkish immigrant.
