Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on
A new commit apparently, but haven't seen this elsewhere yet ... he's 16 and will be playing for Carleton Place (CCHL) next season. 5'11", 154 pounds ... from North Bay, Ontario. He played last season for the North Bay Trappers (GNML) with a 17-37-54 in 36 games.
He was just picked in the second round of the OHL draft last week as well.
NZ has him as a 3.5* recruit, and had this to say about the young d-man back in October of 2018.
Ben Brunette #28 (D, L, 5’10”, 160 lbs, Powassan, 2002)-This defenseman was a call up from the midget team and played like a veteran. He plays a physical tough defensive game and has an offensive upside. He moves the puck and jumps into the offensive hole joining the play. He has played two games this year with a point in each game. He was their best defenseman in that game. He will play at the next level. Grade A-Last edited by UMLFan; 04-15-2019, 12:38 PM.Monty

Twelve players were scratched for Sioux City in favor of some younger affiliates looking to get their first taste of USHL action. It was a learning experience for the young players who found their way into the lineup against a full strength Tri-City team. None saw more action then goaltender Aidan Harper who faced 36 shots and stopped 30 of them.

I'm not sure if Lowell would have any interest. Jacob had 66 points (22-44-66) in 102 games played with RPI.
RPI leading scorer Jacob Hayhurst is in the transfer portal. 3 goals and 20 assists in 29 GP. Mississauga, Ontario, native will grad transfer and have one season of eligibility immediately.

It’s good to see all of these recruits going on deep playoff runs.
