Nice win, A Yale defense gift, one goal was actually handed to your player by a Yale player. Buffalo was actually the difference, if not for his performance it may have been 8-6 Yale.
Good luck with SLU, at home, you haven't heard those two words in a while.

Yeah Thanks! This is a very odd thus atypical for a BG vs Yale game. It is usually tighter checking and way lower scoring. 100% agree with you with Buffalo but I would add that it was more Tucker and your D than Buffalo's heroics. Either way both teams have to clean up their respective D zone first.
Good luck whoever you meet and hopefully see you in Lake Placid so that would mean upsets by both of us.

Tucker did give up too many rebounds, but 4-5 of the goals were major defense lapses where Tucker had absolutely no chance. The penalties did not help either. As an aside, it was the first time I have seen Linesman Rose at a game, first black official I have seen in my time watching the ECAC. Taggert was horrible as usual.

Oh what a great morning it is! You ask WHY? The BG defeats its arch-enemy Yale last night with a lot riding such as clinching the #5th Seed and hosting St. Lawrence next week. Yale was the better team overall last night but as I said over and over again, they don't ask how but rather how many 6-4, always ahead by 2 goals after the first one obviously. Call it puck luck and/or Yale's D abetted (ment) (not sure if that's a word but it sounds cool) but the TREE line (Graber/Sellar/Forman) absolutely destroyed/dominated whoever was on the ice from Yale...if they had Corsi, it would probably in the 80 percentile. Have to mention the 6 on 3 that Yale had pulling their goalie with extended PP time! Two things: awesome kill by Kilistoff Rymsha and Demler who killed all of it and great strategic move by Allain although it did not pay off. Could not tell if momentum shifted one way or the other afterwards.

The Good: TREE line enough said although Forman got out of a minor rut, Han and Less had good games on D, getting MOJO back and not panicking after losing a 3 goal lead to 3-2 regaining a big lead at the beginning of the second period

Improvements To Be Had: D pairing of Demler/Rymsha struggled in D zone and getting puck out of zone...they try to do too much instead of playing it simple (play to your strengths), not a lot of help from the 3 other forward lines (cannot live or die with the TREE line), PP again in entries and zone chances (Yale was aggressive so it may BG go around the world; needed a inside outlet to relieve pressure and keep Yale honest)

Just Right: Buffalo in net as you can tell the team in front of him has settled down a bit, the other lines and pairing played their roles and did their part

Roster/Line up Moves: Great to see Kilistoff back, Shoup was not in again (huge loss), Kalk got hurt early and missed the rest of the game

Go out and have fun tonight as they travel to Brown (coming off a big upset of Harvard) but don't get too comfortable; GO BIG Green!

Thanks Man! Great comeback tie which could prove dearly tonight as you control your own destiny! FYI Point could help you steal your way to Lake Placid. As a point (no pun intended) of reference, BG goalie Grant single-handedly carried BG on his goalie back to Lake Placid a few years back and also Varlamov did the same to the high scoring WA Caps back then...it can happen! Hope to see you there as both of us are obvious underdogs!

BG loses its final regular season game to Brown 3-0. Although the #5 seed has been determined, BG came out flat and uninspired...cannot say it wasn't unexpected. But certainly have to give Brown credit for playing a good game as their announcer (one of the best in ECAC) stated that they are playing their best hockey right now in beating Harvard and BG this weekend). There were lots of whistles and very little flow. Brown capitalizes on a 2 on 1 with Demler blocking the pass with his stick only to come back to the shooter who buries it past Clark. In hindsight, if Demler declares that he has the passe and letting Clark have the shooter, the outcome might be different as Clark couldn't set. Then with the game still 1-0 BG comes down on a great controlled rush entering the O zone leading to Michalowski had the doorstep only to be stoned by Kania. Yep you guessed it, Brown come back down after that and gets extended some time for tired BG skaters and pots in a goal in a scrum that Clark could not freeze. That series was the play of the game!

Things to work on for next week: PP has been awful and predictable (Yau/Han square points is not working, maybe umbrella with would be shooters rolling up with momentum and shooting with at least two forwards with net front presence), have to get Baker and his play and line going as he has dried up a bit, Michalowski seems to like to carry the puck instead of entertaining open options (let the puck do the work...give and go)

I will give BG a pass on this game and chalk this one up as nothing to play for (although I don't necessary buy it) as these athletes are not ingrained like that with their competitiveness. BG, let's re-group and rest up and prepare for St. Lawrence which is no gimme as they are better than their record indicates. Although swept in the regular season, the games were competitive and tight. Let's go BIG Green...you earn the #5 seed and home ice so now hold serve. You can do it!!!

Now reflecting back on last night's game...yes it was a very winnable game on the road coming off a "high" in defeating Yale and locking down the #5 seed...so all this proves that on any given day anyone is beatable especially when you have an off night, given the night before. Again, Brown deserved the W!

Roster/Lineup Moves: D Man Shoup was out again which is worrisome and also Kalk was out (he was injured early against Yale) and Buffalo didn't play three important seniors to a young group

It's Playoff Game Day/weekend as the BG as the #5 seed host St. Lawrence. Playoff hockey is a different breed, maybe the pace being slower and the play more conservative. With that in mine, it plays right into the strength on the TREE line which is offensive play below the dots and major possession thus minimizing their D zone work. Again, the regular season games were tight between the two and probably this will be no different. Play smart and have fun and continue your winning ways! Go BIG Green!

Winning Ugly is how I would describe tonight's 2-1 come from behind victory over St. L. It was almost a carbon copy of the last time these two played with St. L getting on the board first. Is it St. L playing style that makes the BG play inconsistent or is it the nerves? Probably a combo of both. There were a lot of whistles and face offs and dead ending of the puck...very little if any flow of rushes or counters. That's play off hockey! The TREE line were just OK tonight which says a lot for how well they have played of late. Graber, Sellar, and Forman seemed to be off tonight both in finishing in the offensive end and defending in their own end. Graber lost his check/man for St. L first and only goal but that line came back a bit later to equalize it with none other than I believe Sellar at the door step put back. On the winning goal, the checking line back in order Kilistoff/Warpecha/Michalowski had a cycle going only to have Michalowski fired it blindly at the net, only to hit /deflect off his skate into the wide open net for the GW goal. It was reviewed and upheld...the key was that it was not a distinct kicking motion. In the end like I have always stated, they don't have ask but rather how many!

The Good: not panicking after down by a goal and also holding onto a one goal lead; Han looked good and Demler had his moments; timely yet unspectacular saves by Buffalo

The Need To Improve: skill/finesse line of Baker/Kalk/Jasiek were non-existent on EV and carried over on the PP with Yau/Han

Let's go BG and not let St. L stick around and promptly close them out tomorrow night. Prediction...score first and early on and you will win!

I texted Cam Strong’s father last night and said basically the same thing... these games are way too tight. Hopefully both Colgate and Dartmouth can get some breathing room tonight. he he he
