IMO, federations shouldn't be paying players. They should want to play for their country regardless.
Slap Shot - 444 might want to consider a restraining order.
dggoddard - Minnesota is THE ELITE Program in all of college hockey.
wasmania - you have to be the very best to get ice time with the great gophers!

Your company shouldn't be paying you. You should want to work for your employer regardless.

        See how stupid that sounds?

England men have donated their match fees to charity for a long time. I agree with you for some of the bigger countries men’s teams, but it’s a different story for women where there isn’t much of a club setup.

For the US women I see it as more of a CBA issue. If they’ve agreed to a certain amount they should live with it until the contract is up.

It’s like working a second job, at least for men.

Except the new CBA they signed in 2017 actually addressed a lot of their complaints, the bonuses increased, their per diem increased, they no longer play on turf fields etc., what f-ing “more” are they fighting for? Do they want the exact same per diem and bonus structure as the Men plus their guaranteed salary and guaranteed roster spots? If they don’t like the deal why TF did they agree to it!

The big thing I always hate when this subject on the USWNT pay comes up is the instant, reflexive reaction from the press that "US Soccer should just pay them equally! US Soccer is a non-profit! Why is this an issue?!?" It is as if these people believe the sole function of the United States Soccer Federation is to simply pay the Men's and Women's National teams and that's it. The WNT players always go for the emotional appeal and the press falls for it every time.

What also comes up every time? "The Mens team sucks! They should just take their money and give it to the Women!"

The WNT players have cultivated both attitudes in the American public since 1996.

Federations shouldn’t accept grants or revenue, or pay their administrators salaries. They should want to work for their country regardless.

So? If a Walmart employee wants to pick up a few shifts at McDonald's to make ends meet, McDonald's doesn't get to pay less based on her gender.

This article does a great job explaining the differences https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/22/sports/soccer/usmnt-uswnt-soccer-equal-pay.html The women have a different pay structure where they don’t really have much club football. Also, the men’s World Cup generates significantly more revenue than the women’s, which is completely out of the federation’s control. I rarely defend administrators in sports, but in this situation the women are trying to pull a fast one.

The lack of club football (salaries) for women makes it interesting. From that standpoint, the men are taking a much bigger risk by stepping up to play for the USMNT. A career-ending injury in an international friendly could easily cause loss of millions of dollars between club salary and endorsements. Not so for the women. So it does seem that the men's greater risk could justify greater reward. It will be quite interesting how this plays out and if that resolution sets any precedents or is an ad hoc settlement.

Do you believe USA hockey pays for Kane to play for them during the Olympics?

thats bull****. So the US should charge a crap ton for game tickets, tv rights to the events and the players shouldn't get anything? That sounds like the BS that is the olympics.
