Hot August Night is the only Neil Diamond album anyone needs to own. That's it, done.

Seeing a lot of cliched hate for Billy Joel the past few days. I get it. Slightly derivative, wasn't a rock and roller, too snobbish I don't effing care. Piano Man will forever be a guilty pleasure for me and if you disparage it again I will cut you!

Joel's double disc of greatest hits gives one pretty much anything good he did, minus a newer song here and there (I really liked River Of Dreams; We Didn't Start The Fire was okay, but way overplayed).
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

                          Might as well:

Did a Jukebox takeover yesterday at Old Chicago. The theme? Foreign-language, one minor exception, which would be the first song listed here, but it is a French artist who is rather worldly, and I consider it an Africa song of sorts.

                          Jain: Makeba
                          Los Lobos: Cancion Del Mariachi
                          Gipsy Kings: A Mi Manera
                          2NE1: I Am The Best
Franky Perez: Los Tiempos Van Cambiando
                          Ana Tijoux: 1977
Plastic Bertrand: Ca Plane Pour Moi
                          Tres Deliquentes: Deliquent Habits

Tried to find Ashley MacIsaac's stuff, but the songs I wanted were not in the system. I recommend Sleepy Maggie and The Devil In The Kitchen.

You'll never hear any hate from me. Saw him at Target Center once. He's fantastic.

His first three albums are brilliant. Then he turns, practically overnight, to sh-t.

I have strong negative feelings about him because he's from the town literally next to my hometown and there's a level of the locals crawling up his as-s that one typically only sees in parochial backwaters like Boston. But his awful mature output really obscures the fact that he was one helluva talent before he got money. From what I have heard (although it is difficult to untangle the Liberty Valence legend) before he got his recording contract his barnstorming days were even better -- truly a sight to behold in the tradition of Callahan's Crosstime Saloon.

I love Glass Houses. Probably too poppy for most but it was one of those albums from the right time in my adolescence.
